Re: How much gear do you wear?
Weather permitting, I travel pretty light - shorts and a stopwatch. On longer runs maybe a water bottle.

Hey Hippo, where do you get those electrolyte tabs? I've been trying to find some around here and have not had much success.

Re: How much gear do you wear?
On shorter workouts (under 1-1.5 hours), it's just me, my clothes and my ID band. On longer workouts, I might add a watch, a water bottle, and some Sharkies. I (obviously) believe in keeping it simple.

ID Band? More info please?

For me, MP3, sunglasses, car key stuffed into my sock.
I'm resisting carrying a phone, but it makes sense to be prepared.

Re: How much gear do you wear?
House key and driver's license tucked into that handy-dandy little pocket on the inside of my shorts. I hate running with things in my hands.

Road ID makes a dog-tag with whatever personal indentification on it that you chose. Different versions go in your laces, around your ankle, or on your wrist. It's always good to have some kind of ID with you on your workouts or in races, and this is an easy way to do it. The ankle band can also hold your chip in a race, and it is a lot easier than having to untie your shoe to thread the laces through the chip.

Re: How much gear do you wear?
In the winter it takes me a while to dress... summer much better. But usually I have the water bottle, got me a new MP3 player I'll have to wear somehow.

As I'm getting ready the dogs whine and bark and make terrible noise, as they get excited to go. I have to gear them up too, harnesses, reflective vests if it's dark, and collars.

My husband tells me I take forever to get ready to go for a run. :P

Re: How much gear do you wear?
Question for all of you who carry water, I don't like to run carrying anything in my hands, now that I am running longer, how do you secure the water? A fanny pack? do they bounce....I don't like bounce either. A camel pack...you mean like a back pak? isn't that hot on your back? Maybe they have tiny bottles I can secure in a pocket. I don't need lots of water. Just curious.

Re: How much gear do you wear?
salgal106: I have a double bottle carrier belt that I will hold about 1.5 litres of fluids. If I tighten it up enough, it doesn't bounce. But it weighs about 4 pounds with the fluids so it's pretty heavy. Works for me though.

My wife has a single water bottle carrier from the Running Room (in Canada) which works great for her.

I've also seen some great carriers from Nathan that look like they would work well.

Best is to try one on & see how it feels for you.

Re: How much gear do you wear?
The show wallet has changed my life. I used to tie my keys onto my shoe laces and it was a huge pain. The shoe wallet holds keys and some money and has a place to write your info so you don't need a separate road ID. I have my Ipod on an armband and that's all I bring. Even if I'm doing a long run, I don't bring water as I generally run in central park and there are water fountains throughout with clean water.
