Why is Men's Running Apparel So Boring?

I was in my local Fleet Feet the other day to buy some new summer running togs. I swear, the girls stuff has all the great colors, designs, everything. Men's has boring blue, black, and grey, with the nod to 'whimsical' celery. Can someone call these designers and give us some cool colors for a change? I'd wear Fuschia if they had it.

Men, we must DEMAND change!

The same could be said for men's and women's fashion off the race course as well - work clothes, weekend clothes, whatever it is - women get the variety while men are left with shades of gray (relatively speaking).

I agree. I'm not sure why, but I like wearing ridiculously cool colors sometimes. I don't do it daily, but every once in a while, a funrun 5k, why not? Except I like to keep it cheap.

I accidentally grabbed a guys pair of New Balance running shorts off the clearance rack the other day and tried them on.

They were the most comfortable pair of shorts I had ever worn. My guess is if you actually tried the womens shorts on you would hate them. I would have bought the shorts except they were really too long and looked ridiculous. If I were taller I would have snatched them up in an instant.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Target has some different colored running stuff. I have an orange, a red, and a yellow wicking shirt from Target.

You obviously havn't been around long enough to remember Dolfin running shorts. They were "The" shorts back in the mid 70' through early 80's. As I recall, they were very short and very colorful. I had several pair. They came in lots of different solid colors, as well as strips and patters. They didn't have a liner either, which I miss. All my current shorts are either Blue, Gray, Black or Green. However, since Blue is my favorite color, I can live with it.

I like lycra shorts and tights, everyone likes a guy with a nice butt! I love to show mine off too! check out dick pond athletics online for more colors or N2N bodywear online or he swimwear.com you will have field day!

I'd be happier if it was just functional. I have almost totally crossed over to hiking/backpacking/climbing apparel, which seems a lot more pricey than running apparel.

Face it, 90% of men are going to buy clothing in blue, black and grey. Retailers don't want to get stuck with a bunch of fuschia and berry colored men's clothes.
