I like to run to the Chili Peppers. I have BSSM and Californication on my ipod. When I need a little extra inspiration I like "I will survive" by Cake

I'm starting back running after an injury which made me postpone my first marathon attempt. I've adpoted "Here I Go Again" as my person theme song this time. Yes, I get inspired by Whitesnake. Really, who doesn't?

What else should I throw in the shuffle?

Re: favorite running song?
It seems like lots of people like to listen to "Running on Empty." But it just makes me feel hungry. Does anyone else react the same? Or know of other songs that have unintended effects?

Re: favorite running song?
Jackson Brown, James Taylor and other Californians (other than Warren Zevon) are pretty much no-no's as far as run-spiration goes.

You can count The Eagles in there, too, unless it's a Joe Walsh song.

Re: favorite running song?
OK, I bet no ones mentioned this one.

I just finished organizing my music files, and added The Steve Miller Band to the playlist. So far, Jungle Love sounds good. I cant wait till morning to check it out. . . . The song, that is. :-)

Re: favorite running song?
Grateful Dead's "Fire on the Mountain," of course: "Long distance runner, what's you standing there for? Get on, get up, get out of the door" Another GD song that comes to mind is 'Bertha', a concert favorite beginning with:
"I had a hard run, running from your window; I was all night running, running, Lord I wonder if you care, I had a run in, run around, and run down. Run around the corner, Lord run smack in to a tree." I also love the concert combo: "Help On the Way --> Slip Knot --> Franklin's Tower". Great stuff to run to...

Beyond the Dead, Floyd's "Learning to Fly" is fun, as is the already mentioned "Run Like ****", with its line: "you better run all day and run all night..." Also inspirational for me to run to is "Take It Back"...something about the guitar sound Gilmore makes in that song.

Re: favorite running song?
This is a great topic for me - the right song can keep me motivated for that last leg and also get my mind off of being tired. Right now, I'm using a running mix from about a year ago - I think "Hey Ya" by Outkast has a pretty good temo, as do "Bicycle," by Queen, and "Beautiful Child," by Rufus Wainwright. Recently I tried running with an album by the Postal Service. Their songs are really up beat and fun to run with. Another personal favorite would be "Fast as you can," by Fiona Apple.
Thanks for the topic!

Re: favorite running song?
Well, being that I am a huge Techno/Trance nut, I would have to say my all time favorite to run to is off of the Blade movie soundtrack; It is a remix of a a song by New Order (Confusion: Pump Panel Contruction Mix). It has a wonderful steady rather quick thump to it. It is also like 10 minutes long so you can really zone into it.
