I run too some Grateful Dead. "Box of Rain" has been a staple running song for a while. Lately "Cumberland Blues" has been added.

Right this second, Funky Town done by Pseudo Echo.  Gotta love that 80s synth pop.  I have enjoyed running to Linkin Park and the like.  However, I've only run with music a few times in the past ten years.

"City of New Orleans" - Because I visualize a steam locomotive with black smoke pouring from the stack as I start up a long hill, because I feel like my mission is to wake up all the dogs in the neighborhoods I run through in the pre-dawn hours, and because I often feel like I'll be ".. gone 500 miles when the day is done."  My favorite recording is a "grassed up" version by Randy Scruggs and  John Prine - priceless!

I also like "Wanted Man" by Johnny Cash

I guess if it does that to them, it would be a good running song.

That's awesome!!!  (I'm a big PJ fan, too)

    Bawidiba- Kid Rock

YES! I have won my age group in races because that song came on in my last mile. : ) Perfect turbo booster

Also good for mood or speed-

    Batdance-Prince
    The Game-Crystal Method
Do It One Time For Me-Reverend Horton Heat
    I See You Baby-Groove Armada
    Jerry Was a Racecar Driver-Primus

    Toxic-Britney Spears
    The Ape-5*8

I don't usually like songs with "bad" words in them, but for running they make me happy.  Go figure.

"Bite to Break Skin" by Senses Fail and "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus for the fast parts and "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor for the hill parts or the really intense ones.

    Re: favorite running song?

How unique and diverse we all are, lol!  I can't imagine running to Hey Jude, hee hee!  I'm sure some of you would be scratching your heads at my choices too.

I sometimes use Mellancamp's "Hurt so Good" as the first song because that's when it hurts most, lol.
Otherwise Green Day's "Jesus of Suburbia" kills 9:08 minutes really easily, I always smile when it ends because it went so fast.
INXS "Pretty Vegas" gets me rev'd right up.

So who sings along while they run?  I'm sure I look stupid but I can't stop myself from doing it.
