running is more of an upper class sport rite?

I mean fitness in general is an allowance of the upper class! (time, $ for gyms, etc) but running, all you really need is running shoes..

I still think mostly the middle/upper class people run right?

Re: running is more of an upper class sport rite?
maybe its a socioeconomic thing where the more money more time and less worries come into play. I've met the basic survival needs so I can run to self actualization.. well maybe not, but I still think its a socioeconomic thing.

Re: running is more of an upper class sport rite?
I don't know what the statistics are, but I think fitness and healthy eating do tend to be more upper class because those things are closely linked to education. I do NOT think that I have more time on my hands than many poorer folks. I work very hard and often. But I have been blessed with a good education and a good set of values that included taking care of my body.

Re: running is more of an upper class sport rite?
Indirectly yes. Ofcourse, running itself is one of the cheapest sports around. All you need is a good pair of shoes and some perserverence. But you also need a place to run. Places to run are limited in poor areas as these towns are less likely to have money to have their garbage picked up let alone spend on recreational paths. Inner city poverty adds the crime factor, can you go outside without being attacked ?
Also runners are more likely to have desk jobs. One of the reasons I took up running was to compensate for sitting on my duff at a desk all day. Office jobs tend to pay more then manual labor jobs. I can't imagine doing a hard training run and then heading to fields to whip weeds !

I do not know if Doctor so soon is a troll, either way, it is a good question, even if by accident.
