@Terranss - no doubt!  Ultras may be what's next with this son of mine.  Actually, he'll be running it to keep my foot out of his tush!

Sorry to hear your dog has lymphoma but I'm happy to read she's keeping a super fast pace and keeping you company on your runs.  She is definitely my hero!!  Great job on your workouts today.  I did some strength training as well today after my run.  Need to keep my kicking leg strong!!

Mulvasa - I live in Texas!  Wish we could be running buddies. Going to run again Sunday morning.  Need to find time to schedule my reward..massage.  Can't wait.  I did something to my back today when I moved some chairs, hoping the massage helps.  Hope you get to feeling better too!  I have run in the rain once (the only morning it has rained here since June!) Because it was so hot and it was very light it felt great!  Next time I will remember to put a towel in the garage so I don't track water all over my house next time!  Good luck!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Gettin' ready for the Crim 10 mile next week! I'm excited as it is my  first road race in over two months (the Warrior Dash was fun but not the  same) and my first race over 3.1 miles. I wish it would have been  today, but, alas, I must wait another week.

Did a 7 mile run today in a different direction than normal. I liked the  loop I ran, though I did have a long stretch of sidewalk running. I  don't like to run on concrete as I think it has less give than asphalt  and wears legs out faster. I've heard other runners say the same, but  I'm not sure if it really matters or if is just a mental thing. At least  it was a fairly new and level sidewalk...

I ran ok. About a half mile into my run, I noticed that I had my tennis  shoes and not my running shoes on. I felt good, but something just felt  off. These tennis shoes are definitely not suitable for running, but I  decided to press on. About 4 miles in, my feet felt like bricks.  Hopefully, it will be like using a weighted ring on a baseball bat and  it will help me later.

I didn't end up going quite as fast as I would have liked, but I think  it was caution on my part not to hurt or strain anything before the Crim  more than anything. While my legs were getting a little tired, I had  lots left in the tank when I was done.

Ran 10.51 miles today... I see that I need to work at getting comfortable with the 10-mile distance. I'm ahead in my training so I have time. Plan to push it to the full 11 miles next week.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Had the best run of my life this morning.  OK, I'm only 26, but...

Ran 3.3 mi in 30 mins (W9D1 of C25K) on a gorgeous, cool morning here in Upstate NY.  My high school xcountry PR was a 24:50 (slowww), only because that course was poorly marked and every runner accidently cut off several tenths of a mile.    I'm ecstatic to realize that I may be on the way to topping my 15 year old self.  Or that this is at least a possibility, anyway.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Woot woot!!!  I ran 8 miles without walking today!!  That's a first!!  So glad to finally reach this point.  Need to make sure I'm ready for 13.1 come 10/1 for my first half.  Had the benefit of my new fuel plan the first half, had a running buddy today which also helped.  Finished the last 2 on my own which was fine until 7.75 when it took every ounce of my being to hit 8.00.  So wish my slacker son were there, that would have motivated me.    Grrrrrr, razzle, snazzle!!!!!

All of you are such an inspiration to me.  Happy running all!!

OshCat-I will be at the TimeWarner 5K in Appleton next month as well, running with wife, son and daughter in law-they live in Kaukauna.  I'm doing a 10K here in Baraboo in November, but not sure about HM next spring.  A friend ran the GB HM this year and is egging me to do it, but...

I did my first 10K run today and it really took the wind out of my sails.  Not sure why I struggled so much more than 5.3 mile run two weeks ago or 5 mile race last Saturday.  O well, keep plugging along.  Good luck in Appleton!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Completed the C25K program this morning running 3.2 miles in 39 minutes.  Averaged 12:11 per mile.  Now I'm not sure what I should do next.  My first race I planned on running isn't until October.  Too hot to run one now.  I can barely survive the heat and humidity early in the morning. Don't know if I should just keep running 3 miles or try another training plan.  Most of the 10K plans look to hard to just jump right in with only 9 weeks of running under my belt.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

OMG, that was so brutal. Did a 16-mile long run. never got into a good pace, struggled throughout, legs locked up around mile 12 and I was going at a painful shuffle the rest of the way in. Ended up finishing more than a minute/mile slower than the 14 miles I did before.

The good news is it is done and I am one step closer to doing my marathon 2 October. I am proud that I was able to gut this one out. But if runs were all like this one I'd take up something easier - like firewalking.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Week 2 of the PALA/Active Beginner 10K training program.  I had to shift the runs around a bit based on my vacation schedule last week.  Today was walk 10, run 35, walk 10, then 4x100m strides.  I definitely felt like I could have gone farther.  Maybe the stop into CVS during the second walk 10 to grab a Gatorade helped before I hit the track for the strides.  I finished with a 15 minute walk home.  All in all a good morning.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

4 recovery miles with the doggie today.  The first mile was brutal, as my legs furiously reminded me that I ran almost 21 miles yesterday.  They quieted down after that, and the rest of the run was smooth sailing!

@RunningQueen26: Congratulations on your completion of the program!  As far as what to do next, if the 10K plans look too intimidating right now, I recommend starting to train for your 5K!  Now that you've got the distance down, a training plan will help you integrate the various elements of race training, such as race pacing, cross-training/core conditioning, and the long run.  Here's a link to an 8-week plan I used to do my first 5K:

    http://running.about.com/od/racetraining/a/5Kadvbeginner.htm

If this looks too easy, there's a link on the page to an intermediate-level training schedule.  Best of luck!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Almost halfway through training for my first Half.  I did 8 miles this morning.  My pace was good throughout and I was able to pick it up the last three miles and had tons of fun rocking out on my Ipod.  I am starting to get a feel for what my Half time will be and I am guessing I will come in somewhere around 2:20.  I am just focusing on finishing since this is my first Half but I would still like to do well.  At this time last year I could barely run 2 miles and was 30 pounds heavier.  I am proud of how far I have come.  Getting excited for race day on 9/25. :)

    Happy Running everyone!!
