Well I've run 4 miles through twice now, and last weekend my long run of the week was scheduled for 5 miles... but I could tell very early that my legs were not going to allow me to do as well as the previous week! I finished 4 with many walk breaks, and after thinking about it I realized I should have eaten something before going out there. My eating the previous day was all messed up and I figure I just ran out of fuel
This weekend instead of a 5 mile long run I'm doing a 5k race, so hopefully I'll hit that magic 5 on the 24th. Since the half-marathon I want to do isn't until next May I figured so long as I increase my distance by 1 - 1.5 miles per month I should be ready in time.

I've been using http://http://running.about.com/od/racetraining/a/10Kbeginner.htm. Used similar about.com programs for my 5K training, now I'm in Week 4 of the 10K training doing 3.5 to 4 miles on the toughest days. Doing my first 10K in early November across the Ben Franklin Bridge between Jersey and Philly...
Hi! I've been "training" for my first 10k - it's my own plan though. I run 3x a week and have been upping my distance a half mile each week. After I was hitting my mark of a 5k, I upped it to 3.5, 4, 4.5m and so on. I'm now at 6.5 so I should be good for the race this Saturday (Sept. 17) but I am so nervous I won't be able to run the whole thing I keep asking myself, "what did you get yourself into?!" I guess it's a battle against myself to the finish line!

I have been wanting to begin training for a 10K I am running on the 29th of next month. I think today might just be the day. I am very pleased with where I am at for 5K...
Hello! I started training 2 wks ago for a 10k race in Nov. I've been running with multiple walk breaks for 3.1 distance 3 times a week since May 2011. I did run/walk my only 5k trail race last August. Like Mulvasa, I'm just adding half a mile per week, so I'm at the 4.5 mile mark right now. Hoping I can reach the 6.2-mile mark by end of October, just ready for my 10k race in Nov.
Safe running to everyone.
I'm so glad I found this thread! I ran my first 5k at the beginning of this month after about 7 weeks into the C25K program. My time wasn't great, but I finished, and I'm hoping to do better on my 2nd this Sunday. Next goal is definitely a 10K in November, so it's great to hear how others are training for it!
