Runners route/trail preference

Do you have specific preferences such as picking out routes that do or don't have hills, shaded areas/sunny areas, near bodies of water, volume of traffic, etc. How important are these preferences to you when you excersice? Feel free to add any of your personal preferences.

    I try to stay away from hills. HILLS are evil.

    NO HILLS!  Hills are a fat girl's run a course about every two weeks with hills just to change it up but it is hard for me still!!!!  But I'm sure the hills are great to get used to running on!

    I have stress induced asthma so for long slow runs, I pick flat streets and the best pollen control - staying away from anything green and running early or late. Once done with the C25k I started trails and hills and found a whole lot of new muscle pain so that was good. It's now 8 wks later and I'm breathing easier. It excites me that I can improve my body's ability to use O2 efficiently since my lungs are restricted from allergies and asthma. Research tells me the hill and trail work is what built my endurance so I am learning to embrace the hills.

    Running: Started 5/6/2011; Graduated C25k - 7/21/11; Graduated B210k - 11/24/11;

    PRs: 5k - 36:42; 8k - 1:10; 4.15 m - 53.41; 10k - 1:18; HM - 2:56:31

    I may be slow but I'm persistant.

    Goals: 5k under 30 min.; HM under 2 hr.; AG award in the USAF HM! and one full marathon.

    It won't be easy but it will be worth it!
