Running Vs. Your Underwear

Here's a question I've had for a while and I'm just going to put it out there and ask it... What kind of underwear is best for women who run long distances? Is there anything that stays in place and doesn't give "nice" underwear lines that can be seen through your compression shorts/pants? I can't stand this!

I was going to say the kind that are built into running shorts until I read your full post.  I usually wear these- they have a line but not where the line usually is

I have a pair of shorts that have underwear built in.  But now that it is getting colder I have been wearing my capris with no undies.  Maybe not the norm but it is the only thing that works for me.  No bunching, no chafing.  It's pretty darn comfy if you ask me.

I like microfiber ones under compression shorts/capris/tights. They seem to stay in place pretty well for me.

I don't wear anything under my running tights.  Works for me.

I agree with a couple of previous posts- no underwear = no problems. I never wear it under my running pants.

I don't wear any.  My Nike capris and shorts have a liner in them.

I tried no undies but it wasn't comfy to me.  I have microfiber thongs that work best for me.

"I also bought some shorts that have a liner but I won't be putting pants over them like I have read on other posts. The bunching underneath would drive me crazy"

Is this a fad again?  to wear shorts over running pants?  gah I couldn't stand that back in high school and think it's weird!

Run4Chocolat, I can't imagine wearing shorts UNDER tights, HA.

As for keeping one from getting cold. . . I do wear something when taking ice baths after long runs!  lol.

Run4Choclt - you finished the Hog Stampede 2 minutes before me! LOL  I am trying to rid myself of a calf injury to do the NYE 5K.

I have the same problem and I am SICK of spending $20 on UA, DKNY, Nike boy shorts (my body is too old to "go commando").  I have 3 pair, 3 different brands and they all do the same thing.  Too big and they travel to the ground, to small and they travel upward.  Not sure which is worse. I have the pair that redrunner32 posted from UA and they are the least problematic/noticeable.  DKNY has a great pair of boyshort that has an awesome waistband that will not travel down, but the legs go places underwear should never go . . .

I go commando, but I wouldn't mind an extra bum-warming layer in the winter.  I had a coach who suggested a type of boy-short underwear that Nike produced, but haven't tried it.  Definitely avoid cotton!
