Arch long should I take off?

I ran my first half marathon on the 25th of September.  After the race I had a lot of pain in my left foot mostly on my arch.  I ran in the shoes that I had trainined in that were just about on their last leg.  After the half I took a few days off and then started with slow 3 milers two days later.  I did those every few days and didn't do my first long run(10 miles) until two weeks later.  The pain continued but would feel better in between runs.  I have been running my foot over a tennis ball and that does help but after a run the pain is back.  I got some new shoes (Asics Nimbus 13's) and have went on one slow 3 miler with them.  I was hoping it was only my old shoes but the pain is still there.  I am still on a runners high from my half but I know I need to stop for a while.  I need to let my foot heal.  Any idea what is going on?  It is not a horrible pain but it is noticable.  I made it through all of my training and my 12 mile long run before the half injury free.  Why the sudden pain as soon as the half is over?  How long should I take off?

    If it really bothers you I'd substitute biking or swimming a couple times a week. That way you still get in your cardio and you still run. Depending on how you feel on the runs, adjust the cross training. As it feels better slowly pick up the miles. It seems like I always have something that's hurting. I think it prevents me from doing crazy stupid things.

    You may not have given yourself enough rest after your 1/2. You might also try running with arch aid wraps they help me with this problem and lots of people use them. You also didn't say how much you trained for this half, did you push beyond what you trained for and just overdo. Maybe overtrained even??  Good luck..
