    I Ran today.... Did You?

I have figured out the path to enlightenment and speed - I shaved 9 mins off my 5K PR, it took very little effort and I discovered a revolutionary new training technique.  The Technique you ask:

Have the race sponsor/timing company  mess up your chip!

I have an official, timed, top 5 finish in a 5K - granted there where only 75 runners but when I check the results this afternoon there I was - number 5 at 21:40!  Only one problem, I seem to have actually crossed line at 35:34.  however the name associated with that time is my son who was running in the race as well.

Bibs actually had runners name on them - It appears the names, bibs and/or chips got switched - these had the chip on back of bib so those of you thinking I deliberately swapped chips think again - not that it hasn't crossed my mind in the past....but I can attest that the bibs we wore actually had our proper names on them...I.E.  his had his name and mine had mine.

all this time I've been pound pavement etc  when all I needed was to have the timing get mucked up to shave 9 min off my PR....How can I market this to other penguins....Instant speed - no effort:  its like a bad infomercial.

Now if I can swing this technique for my next race...

I have actually sent E-mail to timing company requesting they swap our positions.  until then I will mercilessly point out to my Son that I smoked him today...

Today I did my first all jogging 5k.  NO WALKING.  My time is still painfully slow at 51:21, but I did it.

    I Ran today.... Did You?

Ran 7.2 miles this morning before the heat kicked in.  We're having a touch of warm weather here in the southeast.  At least it's not humid. Beautiful morning and it felt great to be out.

I haven't been in a race since March, and it's hard to tell if I'm getting any faster or not.  I go up hills easier now, for sure.  I'm doing an 8K next weekend, so it should be a good gauge of where I'm at speed wise.  I've been debating run-walk but I think I'm just going to try to get the first 3 miles really quick, quicker than my PR on a 5K, and then try to maintain that pace or close to it for the last two miles.  Surely I should be faster now than 6 months ago.

In a couple of weeks it will be my one year anniversary of starting C25K, and for me to be running for a year is something I never thought I'd be able to do.  It's a great program and I honestly believe I would have never gotten to this point without it.  I graduated at the first of the year and since then I've just tried to keep it going.  All I wanted when I started was to be able to run enough so I could do it for fun and maybe lose a little weight.  Mission accomplished.

    Ran 5k in 34:33.

It was cool and drizzling. That might have helped a lot...

It's just great to be able to run 5k whenever I choose to. I feel like I could continue to 10k soon.

Last week I only was able to run one day and I wanted to run while I was out of town but I couldn't find a safe enough route so I bagged the running until tonight. I go back out for 3 miles.

I ran 1.5 miles this morning.  Have run 4 days this week and now will take the weekend off.

I just started on my program on August 29 and Tuesday I ran for 32 minutes without walking.  I'm mighty proud of my accomplishment to date and feel better than I have in a long time!  I'm taking my time but, there ain't no stopping me now!

I spent most of the summer nursing calf injuries and have just been running steady again for a few weeks. Did my longest run in several months today, 6.2 miles in 66:40. Finished the week with 6 toal runs and 22.1 miles. That is the most weekly miles in recent memory.

3.71 miles this morning.  I feel for you Justanoldman - I spent 2 weeks sidelined with just a mild calf pull - now I'm trying to get my cardio endurance back up.   Glad to hear you're on the mend.

    I Ran today.... Did You?

I ran for 33 minutes tonight.  I'm looking for a 5k in my area, but they're all so expensive.  Funding is really tight for me and I just can't afford to pay $35.00 and up.  It's really hard to fork over my hard earned money for something I can do for free.

    Happy running everyone.
