Re: July 4th Start Couch to 5K

I didn't enjoy & was not able to do 25 minute runs.  So I did intervals.  Running for 3 minutes with a 1 minute recovery for 24 minutes.  I enjoyed it, was able to run at higher speeds and increased my mileage!  I think I'm going to stick with this as I was able to run 3 miles~which is my goal for my 5K in October.

July 4th Start Couch to 5K

Hey all still here!...Did the Whittier Spooktacular Saturday..A lot of fun...while my time ws 46.26..my running pace was down from 20:00 min mile in July to 14:00, that's a whole six minutes faster!  This course was a incline first half, which was killer, but I made it!   I love I'm getting faster..still can't run mor than 5 mins at a time, but I'm working on running a short 1 mile run (with incline) every other day with strength training, and then the longer runs on my running days...I was in awe of the 76 year old man who did this run in 22 minutes!!!   I may never get that fast, but wow he looked sooo good, I never would have thought he was 76!  I'd like to look like that at 60! LOL

I am soooo glad to see you all here!  I will keep checking in on you all!  Keep up the good work my running buds..I'm so proud of all of you and you keep me inspired!

Next 5K is the Turkey Trot...think I'll dress as an Indian!

July 4th Start Couch to 5K

Way to go Benjiesan!!!!!  I bet when you started you never thought you would finish a 5k, much less improve on your time by so much .  I'm planning on doing a Santa 5K in Vegas (hopefully) so off I go .......

July 4th Start Couch to 5K

    Hi Everybody!!

I gave up trying to post for a long time. Thankfully this site was working when we firtst started running in July. You all have helped me get through those tough weeks. I'm still running & I'm addicted to it!!!! I sign up for a "new runners club" & started Oct 1st. It has been so awesome. We meet every Sat @ 9am & run with coaches.I never ran with anyone before this so I was so happy to see that I not only was able to keep up but was doing really good. I'm so glad I did the Couch to 5K 1st though because the intervals & distance go much faster than this program. I would have been so discouraged. We are now up to running 3.25 miles.  One of the coaches offer to help a woman who was having difficulty to run during the week as well & invited anyone who would like to join. They are abot 7 of us & we run 3-4 times a week & we have a blast & have become friends. The whole group will be going a 5 K at the end of the program on Dec 4th.  Its great because our practice runs include a lot of the route of the 5K so we will be familiar with it.

I was thinking about how I began this summer & progressed with all your help & decided to see if this site was still up & if anyone was still posting.

Glad to see some of you are still posting & still running!!

Best of luck on your upcoming 5K's

    Linda
