Thumbs up to you Abby! Way to go.

Daughter & I did our long run today. A real milestone....10 miles. time 1:54:47 for 11:22 avg pace. We did a 2 min run 1 min walk interval and felt good.

great job. i just did a 5k on a 3 minute walk, 2 minute run interval for the first half and then had to slow it down to a four minute walk, 1 minute run interval.  i knocked 7 minutes off my time from last week.  i logged over 5 miles today.  feels good.

day 74:  5K+ waddle - no idea how far actually or how long:  went out the door no gps, no watch, no phone, no ipod.  just went out and back.  I know roughly how far as I regularly ride my bike to my turn around spot.

    day 75:  karate

Rain in forecast so may not be out on street til later this week.

I have been sick and not sleeping.  but in spite of that, i got out there and did 3.1 today.  keep in mind I am not up to ALL running yet, but this was week 4 of c25k, so i definitely kicked it up a notch.

    Day 77 - 5K

See the rest of the story:

I have figured out the path to enlightenment and speed - I shaved 9 mins off my 5K PR, it took very little effort and I discovered a revolutionary new training technique.  The Technique you ask:

Have the race sponsor/timing company  mess up your chip!

I have an official, timed, top 5 finish in a 5K - granted there where only 75 runners but when I check the results this afternoon there I was - number 5 at 21:40!  Only one problem, I seem to have actually crossed line at 35:34.  however the name associated with that time is my son who was running in the race as well.

Bibs actually had runners name on them - It appears the names, bibs and/or chips got switched - these had the chip on back of bib so those of you thinking I deliberately swapped chips think again - not that it hasn't crossed my mind in the past....but I can attest that the bibs we wore actually had our proper names on them...I.E.  his had his name and mine had mine.

all this time I've been pound pavement etc  when all I needed was to have the timing get mucked up to shave 9 min off my PR....How can I market this to other penguins....Instant speed - no effort:  its like a bad infomercial.

Now if I can swing this technique for my next race...

I have actually sent E-mail to timing company requesting they swap our positions.  until then I will mercilessly point out to my Son that I smoked him today...

I've continued to point out to my son his performance.  his revenge will be thanksgiving as we run local 5k...

i've lost count as I was out of touch again  joys of traveling and getting lazy - I've stopped carrying laptop when I can get away with it...

PR'ed MCM 10k - on beautiful fall day  - right after early snowfall.  Brought back memories of other early fall snows....always amazed at how people forget that it takes little longer to stop when friction gets reduced....
