Twisted my foot on trail run

I competed in my first trail run on Sunday.  It was a five mile run through the woods and along streams with lots of hills at our local state park.  I live in PA and there are lots of leaves on the ground which made it difficult to see the terrain.  Within the first mile I came down hard on a rock/root with the inner aspect of the ball of my left foot.  My foot hyper-flexed and twisted.  I kept running through the pain which did ease up after a few minutes.  My left is my lead foot - the one I lead with over obsatcles - so I switched to leading with my right which was a bit weird.  I did repeat the injury again about 2 miles in but kept going.  There is no pain when I run/walk on flat.  I have no swelling or bruising.  I can't even find a sore spot when I probe the area.  But any twisting, hyperflexing or side step motion is painful.  Is this an injury that I just rest and wait it out?  Since flat runs/walks aren't painful, can I continue to run as long as the terrrain is flat (trak or treadmill?)?  Any sdvice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Marie
