Any tips for a new runner considering doing a 5K (Turkey Trot) next week?

I am a relatively new runner (within the past year or so). I've never done a 5K before, but am considering doing a 5K next week, Nov. 24. (I just found out about it!) I currently jog/run approx. 2 miles every morning, so physically, I think I can do it. My strength seems to be sprint running though, not endurance running, that's why I'm still hesitant to register for the race. I'm just looking for some last minute tips to get myself ready (if I choose to do it!) for race day. Thanks in advance for your tips/advice!
If you do 2 miles every day I think you can do 5k just fine. Remember it is OK to walk stretches if you need to! Heck, it's ok to walk the entire thing if you want to (not that you sound like you will need to). Make it your goal to HAVE FUN, not set some kind of speed record, and you'll achieve it!
2013:
New Year's Color Run (5k) - 01/01/13
Oshkosh Half-Marathon - 04/21/13
Enjoy the race! You will have a great time....no matter what, you will set a personal record for the 5K and enjoy Thanksgiving all the more!
Do it! You won't regret it! If I had one piece of advice it would be don't start out too fast. You said that sprinting seems to be your thing, not endurance, so if you want to run the whole distance, start out easy so you don't run out of gas before the end. Races are a lot of fun! Enjoy it!
Mmm turkey...
Oh sorry, got off track. Yes, do it! Just push through any weakness that comes after 2 miles since it sounds like your body is conditioned at 2 miles.

I agree with the other comments...just go ahead and join the 5K. You will have a wonderful race and enjoy the experience. Most likely, many will be participating that do not run two miles and they will be jogging or walking to be involved and finish a special event for a good cause.
