Any vegan distance runners out there who want to share tips?
I find it difficult to find quick and easy nutrient/caloric-rich bites to fill up on during training...and recovery meals. I feel that I have faired well overall but I also believe that there is more to release in my running - if only I had the energy to tap into it.
Thanks for the sharing!

Well most of my calories come from fruit. I find these very quick and easy as well as nutrient rich with plenty of calories.

For me, it's a lot of bananas. Every time I buy some, I chop them up and put them in the freezer. Great energy even right before a run.
Hi Heather!
The absolute *best* calorie rich food that is metabolized at a steady pace is Palm Oil. It is a ??diglyceride fatty acid that circulates in your blood stream until it is used up by your muscle tissues as source of energy. I can go on and on about the health benefits of Palm Oil (especially the African Red Palm Oil) - even bore you to death
instead, just google "Red Palm Oil" and get all the information you need.
I use that for my training religiously. No need to eat ton of bananas or sugary stuff that burn within the first 3 miles... palm oil will give you energy for hours!

I made these Peanut Butter Protein Bites and took some along with me to my recent 15k. They're great!
