Sports Pedicure?

I have some dry skin on my feet and a stubborn callus that results in a blister every time I go on an extended run (6+ miles). I've tried home remedies, pumice stones, etc. but they haven't really resolved the problem. I'd like to see a professional to get this taken care of but I don't know if going to some fancy salon for a pedicure would necessarily do it. Btw, I'm a guy. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to go? Thanks.
The one time I DON'T want a pedicure is when I'm getting ready for a long run. I prefer to take my calluses with me - the tougher the feet, the less blistering I do. That's why I don't understand why you get a blister where you're callused. Be interesting to read what a professional would have to say on this! Thanks for asking the question!
"You can't plow a field by turning it over in your mind." ...and you can't train for a race by thinking about it - you have to put in the miles.
I
totally agree! If I'm training for a longer race, I will still get my pedicures, but I ask them to leave the calluses instead of scraping that dead tough skin away. It protects your foot, and will prevent blisters. I value that you are a dude, and care enough about your hygeine to get a pedicure - Girls really do appreciate that. However, keep it rough to keep your run safe.
Happy Running!

look at ordering skin prep / sure prep it wil toughen the areas that blister and you just apply it before your runs (comes in little wipes like alcohol wipes) www.allegromedical.com

IMO the real question is why those calluses are there.. You might need to size up your shoes, pick a different shoe width, or check for excess foot motion with a treadmill running analysis at your local PT or running store.
I agree with the others that callus is your friend for longer runs. Mine build up as I train for distance events like the marathon, but I haven't had blisters in years. They usually come before callus, or if you change to unfamiliar shoes, socks too thick, etc. Regarding socks, there are thin double-lined socks that reduce blistering at running stores.
Nevertheless, I know a runner who competes in 80-100 races a year. He always brings an exfoliating tool to work on the calluses of his feet before races. Go figure...
Another thing you might try is to abandon shoes altogether for the Vibram "Five finger" foot gloves, which let your toes spread naturally instead of cramping them into the average toe box. Most people do not like running in them, but if blisters and calluses are dogging your dogs, it's worth a shot.
Hey author, i just read your post and want to suggest you that i never believe on Human specialist for my body.I prefer machines over man/women because They provides the best treatment and satisfaction and similarly, for my pedicures i believe on a product, which i get from the workout of many hours on internet.Solevation foot scrub, which provides you perfect pedicure in 3 minutes everyday while you bath or shower.I examine this and find it very effective.
