Great job OldPlodder! I ran in shorts today(3.5 miles). I also saw a couple performing some act in the middle of my tail run. I got a kick out of it when they tried to cover it up

    Ginny,

It was the Chicago Polar Dash.  But I know that the sponsor hotel was working with people staying from out of town.

    I Ran today.... Did You?

I trained for two days fresh from 25 yrs and ran my first ever 5k Marathon Today in West Palm Beach,Florida. My Time And Placeing was really A starting point even though I pushed and pushed, I wound up doing it in 46.33.03 and placed 5 in my age group and 98 position over all. Agian no medals no nothing just the happiness of having a starting point and my own records too break. My trainer thought I flipped when I told him I Entered, but he was excited to know why I was wanting to accomplish this task. Would I adive it to a beginner No Not reallly due to the physical muscle pain attained at the end, but you will knw what you need to work on and what to keep doing and what to change. See you at the finish line First Middle Or Last.

    INSANE!!

And we know it, don't we?

Running a race after a long hiatus ..........

Just ran a 1/2 marathon after 7 days of 'training' ..........and after 3 months of recovering from being sick and bummed knee

Usually my finish times for HMs are under 2 hours but readjusting my mental state in regard to time lost and knee recovery ........finish time was 2:07:59!!

Not bad for a 51 yr old! Yes, it is possible!!

Lost about 5 minutes at mile 7 and again, another 5 minutes @ mile 9 due to back hamstring muscle cramp, never experienced it before but massaging it helped.

Everyone thought I was nuts but also know my competitive spirit ........once committed, kinda difficult to back out, I get psyched out about it and just go for it!

Love trail running most of all, and HMs are my favorites.

Recovering now for a couple of days.

Will run tomorrow, about 6 miles, slow and steady; weather permitting, a trail course or might end up on the treadmill ........

I follow the Galloway philosophy of incorporating walk breaks after each mile which has definitely improved my overall performance in speed, endurance and strength .......... critical when running trail races above 7,000 feet!!

    Love your determination!

Wishing you an injury free year of running!

Been there, especially even more difficult to get out of bed when it is cold, snow and/or sleeting ........ and you're running INSIDE, on the treadmill, LOL!

Great finish time on your 5k!!!

Use to live in Denver, love those races!!

I ran 3 miles tempo, and then 8 laps of 200m strides this morning, but I had to cut afternoon practice to 6 miles because I need to study for my finals that start on the 18th

jc1414 - nice job doing a Half after only 7days of training and a long hiatus. I just did my second Half, finished at 2:07 like you; 11 min slower than my last one. Unlike my previous one, this one killed me. I took 3 days off and i'm 10yrs your junior!

JC414 I have 8 years on you. It took me 8 weeks of dedicated training to complete Disney last week in 2:09. Seven days training. You must have some good genes. What a run. Imagine what you'll do when your training peroid extends for weeks .

AlfNinerX 2:07 Is nothing to sneeze about. By next week you"ll forget about how beat up you got. You'll only remember thr Bling!!!!!

    I Ran today.... Did You?

    Thanks AlfNinerX and Webpro11 ~

Still wasn't sure about how 'well' I might finish; being so competitive through the years in every sport I've played brings out the maniac in me!! haha!

Stopping twice for about 5 minutes kinda threw my momentum off but the 'downhill' around 10 mile was a lifesaver; at mile 11, just told myself it's a 5K and 'go for it'!!

Passing runners the last couple of miles tend to make me run faster, I don't know where that extra boost comes from but I don't question it

Yeah, I will be training longer for upcoming races; am looking for a HM trail race and not sure if I should tackle a 25K technical trail in March, REALLY, REALLY want to do that!!! LOVE THOSE!

Would like to see my time for HMs go back to under 2 Hours ..........

Have to see an orthopaedic about my knee like I promised so just have to 'wait and see'

Can't stand uncertainties but they need to interfere now and then to keep me grounded, I suppose, haha!

You two are piling up those mileage too!!

WAY TO GO on your recent finishes!!
