    I Ran today.... Did You?

Was in PHX for last three days, very nice ideal temps for running the trails in the desert mountains:  LOVE IT!

So ran 8.5 miles Wed.  I usually run this particular trail which has a gradual uphill climb in many areas, NO STOPPING , great workout!!

Still reeling from yesterday's run so I decided to run today again.  Short run: 6.5 miles on a different trail which had a good steady uphill for almost a mile, then steep for about 25 yards, another runner ahead of me made me determined to catch him, he started to walk but saw me gaining on him and he took off again, haha!!  He kept me from walking so it was all good!!  Focus was on endurance and strength.

Returned to northern AZ ~~~ IT SNOWED!!!  Brrrr!!  I know the trails will be too muddy and icy to run on so will be making friends with the treadmill Sat and Sun (before the SUPER BOWL, no fav team, just hoping for a good close game).

I'm thinking of running a HM on the 19th ~~~ I usually run a HM or 10 miler or occasionally a 25K each month; ran a HM already on Jan. 15th ...........

Resting tomorrow (Friday), and taking in the monthly Art Walk with friends!  yippee!!

I ran today. Probably shouldn't have. It's windy, 32 F., 6" of snow drifting to 11", and snowing. It's a beautiful day for a run, really . I did 3.5 miles, alternating between the plowed roads (slick) and the shoulders (heavy unpacked snow). A 10:30 pace that felt like 8:30 and legs that feel like cement. They've been tired after the last few runs. I did hills on asphalt this week, and that's hard on me.

We're supposed to get maybe another foot of snow before the storm moves out. I'll be making friends with the snow shovel. Shoveling snow is cross training; did you know that? I'll rest my legs a few days and do upper body work.

4 miles in Central Park last night w/the NY road runners. Was with the faster stronger runners for the first half and then fell back but not quite to the slower group. The miles are starting to pay off. Additionally, I've lost about 15 pounds now in the past  6 mos. 4 pounds in January alone.

    Keep going....

5 miles yesterday, my 'normal' route.  I run on the nice days, above 20 degrees.  Anxiously waiting for spring in Central Wisconsin.

    OldPlodder:

Denver got hammered with a snowstorm!  Glad I wasn't traveling there over the weekend!

Been there, done that!  We got snow in northern AZ too but melting already, the mountain peaks still covered with snow and fog most of the day though.

Took day off today but planning on running 8 -10 miles on Saturday and 10 - 12 miles, Sunday.

Next week, I'll be incorporating hill repeats twice/week and double runs once/week.

Training for another HM on the 19th.

Planning on running 3 races in March.  WHY?  My birthday month calls for something INSANE to do!!

At least two of them will be a HM (one MIGHT be a 30k) and the third will be a 17k (10.5 miles).

For now, mental state is "train to run one race at a time"..........haha!

One of 'these days', I hope to find myself on a bike trip to visit the capital of HD!!

    My 'other stress reliever' YAY!!

Use to live in ND and can relate to the nice ideal running days of at least 20 degrees, haha!!

It's amazing when you catch the running fever!

    KEEP AT IT!!

    That's INCREDIBLE AlbertMahoney!!!

CONGRATS on your determination to lose those pounds, fantastic!!

Was in NY last May for about 5 days and kept up my training by running in Central Park each day, was HUMID but tolerable; yeah, plenty of 'running groups' it seems.

    KEEP IT UP!!

    I Ran today.... Did You?

Today and tomorrow off. Long run (ok mostly walk) yesterday ~9miles/2 hours.

Just a question. It seems like my left foot barely fits in my shoes lately. Too many miles? It doesn't hurt, (well except that my shoe is too tight.) my right foot is fine. I work on my feet all the time and haven't noticed this problem before (that I can recall). I have been training more consistantly lately. Any suggestions?

    I Ran today.... Did You?

Yippee! Ran 10 miles yesterday, on treadmill due to trails being too muddy, slushy, icy; don't want to slip ......again.  Every now and then, I find myself pretty sluggish the first 3-4 miles but yesterday it was for at least 6 miles; sometimes my competitive edge comes in pretty handy during these days ........ kept pushing myself ....... or it could be simple 'PRIDE' haha!!  But I got my 'second wind' and the last 4 miles were faster at about 8:40/mile with a one minute walk break after each mile.  WHEW!!

Planning on a short run of about 4 - 6 miles before the Super Bowl game, might run on a more popular trail; mostly sunny today as was yesterday so that trail may be drier than the trails in the 'woods' ...........

CKLindsay:  not a specialist by any means but I buy a 1/2 size larger (I have 'normal' width) running shoes to compensate for the 'swelling' that takes place especially when I know I will be running longer, or more often, plus I usually use a massage machine for my feet after my runs especially after running on more rugged trails; I have at least 6 pairs of running shoes which I interchange for training and races; I buy new TRAIL running shoes after about 300 miles (it seems to take more of a beating) but new ROAD running shoes after about 400 miles, and the 1/2 size larger gives my feet some wiggle room because I wear 'thicker' socks for TRAILRUNNING/RACES, no problems with thinner socks for road races.  A running friend buys the 'wider' width size shoes for the same reason and she has noticed that her feet feels better.  Hope this helps but I'm sure you'll get other advice from other experienced runners.

5.15 miles at a 11:44 pace. Yay for under 12 minute mile! Slow poke that's me!

Mahalo for your advice az1414! I usually just have one pair of shoes at a time (I live on a ship, space is at a premium so multiple pairs is almost not an option). Next pair I'll make sure to get wide widths because that seems to be the problem.

    Rested today .........

But I did run yesterday (Sunday) 4.5 miles under 50 minutes, took one minute walk break at 1.5 mile and again at 3 miles.

Thought I had more time, was hoping to run 6 miles but had to get back before the Super Bowl game, LOL!

    Have a great week everyone!

With the warmer weather in Central Wisconsin, I ran a personal long 7.1 miles on Saturday, rested Sunday, and ran my 5 mile route on Monday.  With warm weather in Feb. you have to get out and enjoy it.

    Cheers All!!!
