Spalding's KOB All-Weather Volleyball’s will be all overthe beach
New York February 2, 2012: The 4CTotally Light 2Go Big Shot Volleyball Series, presented by Rider Sandals, willstart the 2012 season with 4 Florida tournaments during March and April. Teamsfrom throughout the East Coast will compete as they warm up for the 2009 ProBeach volleyball season. Top male and female doubles teams will compete for $3,000cash prizes at the tournaments starting with the first event February 25-26 in ClearwaterBeach followed by tournaments in Singer Island March 3-4 and April 20-21 inLido Beach, Sarasota. Tournament play will start at 9 am with finals scheduled for 5 pm each day. Admission is free forall spectators.
All events will be sanctioned byVolley America, the largest grass roots beach volleyball organization in thecountry.
The Big Shot Volleyball Series holds 35events leading to the $8,000 Big Shot Championships at the end of the summer atBally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 Volley America National ChampionshipsOct. 22-23 in Clearwater Beach. The Lido Beach tournament is sponsored by the SarasotaConvention & Visitors Bureau.
Top players in the 4C Big Shot Seriesinclude Florida star Steve grotowski who is expected to represent Great Britainin the 2012 London Olympics. Also competing will be Adrian carambula, the topplayer in Florida from Miami Beach, S. Carolina star Jake Elliott, who finishedas high as 9th on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, and Florida stars MikeDiPierro, Mark Van Zwieten and Bill Chenoweth who have all placed on the AVPTour.
Top women’s players include Clearwater’sTara Kuk and Kim Whitney and the top team on the East Coast Brooke Sweat(Estero, FL) and Kristen Batt (Venice, FL) plus Siesta Key players Megan Wallinand Chara Harris.
Separate divisions will be held forplayers of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entryfee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official 4s TotallyLight 2Go Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, and a chance to win merchandise prizesfrom tournament sponsors Spalding, Rider Sandals, Sarasota Convention &Visitors Bureau, SOB Vacations, Rox Volleyball, Bally’s Casino, Zem Booties,1st Place Volleyball, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sweet Tomatoes, Park & Sunnet systems, Dig Magazine, Sportime, Sixpak.com Volleygear, Horry County, SpikeKey.
