Quick weight loss

Ok Im 36 years old 5'9" and my weight varies from 181 to 183.
I have a medical exam for the LASD and I have to weigh below 179 so I have a goal of 175. But I can not seem to drop the weight.
I eat either a balance bar or a grapefruit for breakfast
I have salmon and Veggies for lunch
and Salmon and veggies for dinner.
I run 4 days per week between 1.5 and three miles.

I worry im not eating enough to build up for longer runs but I have to drop more weight quick.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Is that all you eat? I mean, do you have any snacks, etc? Certain drinks also make it harder to lose weight, I noticed. Maybe try doing a short detox or a fast? Your doctor will know best whether that would be wise for you, though.

Re: Quick weight loss
When is this test? If it is fairly soon, you may want to go to South Beach or Atkins for a few weeks. I definitely do not advocate this diet all the time as I believe carbs are important. However, you will lose weight fast the first few weeks if you follow either plan closely. It will be mostly water weight, but to get you down a few lbs that would work. Then after your test you can try to incorporate a healthier lifestyle. It also does not look like you are eating enough and that could be throwing off your metabolism.

Re: Quick weight loss
Body builders often dehydrate themselves before competition. You could probably lose 2 or 3 pounds that way. You could also use a laxative to lose another pound or so.

Please by a recently published reputable book on weight-loss and do it the proper way. Your diet is way to limited. You really need to eat more food and a balanced diet to lose weight effectively.

Re: Quick weight loss
it looks like your breakfast is the place to improve....a bar and/or grapefruit not enough and min protien and fibre. Oatmeal, wheat toast with non sugar PB, banana, some good options...if you eat breakfast then you will better all day

Re: Quick weight loss
I agree with adding more to your breakfast.

You really aren't eating much at all and then combined with the exercise you are doing that should speed up your metabolism, I'm surprised you seem to be plateauing at this weight.

I guess when I hear of people that are exercising and eating a healthy balanced diet and still not losing, my first thought is maybe something wrong with your thyroid? I also recommend adding green tea to your diet and eliminating coffee (if you already drink it). I have never known anyone who has not lost between 5-10 in the first month of switching to green tea (provided they are also following a healthy diet), because the green tea naturally boosts your metabolism.

Re: Quick weight loss
ok are you serious about the green tea thing?!!
is there any scientific evidence for losing between 5 and 10 pounds just by switching from tea/coffee to green tea?

Re: Quick weight loss
Yes, I'm serious about the green tea thing. I don't have links off hand to scientific studies, but I have read articles and various sources of information that do show weight loss when one introduces green tea daily (usually 2 or more cups). There is even such a thing as a "green tea diet". I"m sure if you do a google search, you will find various sites talking about it. When I stopped drinking coffee and started drinking 2 cups of green tea daily, combined with my normal healthy/balanced diet, I lost 8 lbs just in January.

Re: Quick weight loss
People act like using weight takes some kind of magic.

If you aren't losing weight, you are eating too much. Eat less, and you will lose weight, no matter what your thyroid does.

I can lose weight whenever I want to. People say to me, "Oh, it's easy for you." No, it's not easy for me. It s*cks to be hungry. But that's how you lose weight.

Everyone says to eat breakfast, but when you are trying to lose weight I recommend no more than a glass of orange juice and a piece of toast.

Then have a minuscule lunch that includes some protein and a piece of fruit.

Then have a minuscule supper that includes some greens and a piece of fruit.

Yes, you will feel hungry. But you will lose weight.

Not sure eating too few Calories to achieve adequate nutrition is the way to go.

I mean, if it's weight loss at the ignorance of health, hey... there's a drug "tina," "ice" or crystal meth. $20 for a quarter. You won't be hungry at all. The first time you won't eat for 3 days at least... and very little for the rest of the week. Even after that, your appetite is gone and you don't need sleep..
You will lose significant amounts of weight. Guaranteed.
And I mean, it's the weight that matters right? not health?

Re: Quick weight loss
Ad Alta- I completely agree. Just "not eating" isn't a safe or smart way to lose weight. And anybody with any real knowledge of nutrition or any concern for their health wouldn't simply not eat to lose weight. People lose weight all the time with PROPER nutrition and exercise and are healthier for it. But, hey, if you just want to drop the pounds regardless of your health, go on the super model diet.......meth, laxatives and vomiting.

If you want to lose the healthy way, Xenophon, add atleast two servings of FF dairy and and 3 servings of LF complex carbs, along with two snacks, one of fruit and one of nuts. And make sure you know what a serving size is. That's where a lot of ppl go wrong. Take care.

Quir drinking diet soda and ten pounds will come off in no time. At least, that what some people on this board claim.
