Hi, I am a newbie to C25K and just did my third run. Post first run, I experienced some groin pain on the right side. I increased my pre and post run stretches, even threw in some yoga, which seemed to help at first but the groin pain continues to be a problem and now, instead of feeling it post run, it occurs during. I have to stop and stretch during run intervals. I really don't want to have to stop running, nor do I want to risk seriously injurying myself. Despite the pain, I love the high and the "walking taller" feeling I get from my workouts. Could someone please give me some advice? Thanks
Have you had a doctor look at it? I'm by no means an expert on anything medically related, but there are quite a few members here that could help. Try posting this in the "Med Tent" section for a better response. Good luck with your recovery!

Stretching an injury doesn't heal it. It is more than likely going to make it worse or keep it the same. You need to back off and let it heal. Rest, walk---take it easy.
I suggest that you thing long-term right from the beginning. More than likely, your body isn't ready for the type of running you are doing, or for the intensity at which you are going. Thinking long-term, you want to let your body build fitness in its own time. I think the best way to do that is to get a heart rate monitor and keep at or under an aerobic heart rate. What will happen is that you will probably have to walk to keep your heart rate at the aerobic heart rate. Over time, as your fitess builds, you won't be able to walk fast enough to get your heart rate up to the target---you'll have to run, and you'll be ready for it. Of course, you might not have to walk, and you'll be able to run from the beginning. If that is the case, the heart rate monitor will keep you running slow enough, until you body is ready to run faster at the same heart rate. Thanks for your advice, Jimmy, I actually went to a running store right after I posted and bought real running shoes. I've done 5 more runs since then and have noticed a significant difference. No more pain! Yay!
