preregistered on Active-when I picked up my number 11/2 hr before the race they were already out of my size. Awards took a long time to be announced. Fast race course. Perfect weather. Splits at mile marks.
I also preregistered on Active. I recieved an email with the wrong bib #. The email instructed participants to bring their bib # and how they were trying to be so organized this year. But instead, I waited a very long time to even be acknowledged in line behind several other frustrated racers attempting to get their own issues resolved before finally getting my own bib and t-shirt. And then the shoe chip did not record my time so I wasn't even included in race results. The gorgeous weather and friendly crowd made the rest of my disappointment tolerable.
I understand there was a glitch with the bib #'s but when I emailed the director of the event she explained that she inherited the event and that she would have a more efficient system next year. 700 emails was more than was anticipated. Other than that, I thought the race was great. Weather cooperated and a good time was had by all.
nice event....someone picked up my bib and shirt the day before but my information wasn't there so I guess on principal they assigned me a bib
VERY UNORGANIZED Event... Despite Pre-Registering for the 5K and two kids in kid's race prior to the cutoff for guaranteed t-shirts we all received no shirt.... and they ran out of race numbers for both my children... How do you run out of race numbers and/or t-shirts for people who PRE-REGISTER????
event was great - where are the results posted?
Very unorganized. Myself and 3 friends pre registered early and only 2 of us got t shirts. One friend was told she had a shirt in her bag, but "someone must have taken it out of her bag". They were out of pins for the bibs and started handing out tape to tape it to your shirt, but as soon as you started running the tape was wet and came right off. I had to run back and grab my bib from under the feet of other runners which didn't even matter because no one collected the bottom at the end of the race anyway. The race was packed, the school was hard to find. I wouldn't go back.
The course was decent, the town is very nice and the weather was good. Having said that, I was pretty bummed at how unorganized the event was. I didn't receive a shirt (even though I pre-registered before the 3/14 deadline. I was also told they didn't have pins, so I had to creatively secure my bib on. I did sign up to order a shirt and left my address. I hope they send it to me like they said they were going to.
Overall, a fun 5K. The course was scenic and fast (i.e., flat), and was quite well-attended.
I did not personally experience any of the pre-race problems pointed out by others here, but I can attest that there was an overall sense that things in the gym could have been run better.
I did forget a personal rule: Even if the race organizer says it's provided (I'm looking at you, safety pins), bring it anyway! So, I had to scramble for something to keep my number on my shirt. Other than that, I had no problems.
This has the potential to be a great event, so I hope not too many people weren't too turned off to return next year, and I hope the organizers control the things they can control, to make the next race run more smoothly.
Very disorganized. I went the night before to pick up my shirt/bib and had to wait in line for almost an hour after getting sent between the 2 schools. The course itself was nice, and the cops were great with handling the traffic in town. They really need to do something about how they check people in, etc. Going the day before saved me NO time, and I never got a bag, and there was no one around to tell you where to get water after the race...
My wife and I preregistered online with Active. We got our bib numbers emailed to us. However something went wrong with the Active database as the information was all wrong when I went to pick up our bibs and shirts.
The race was fun and the weather was nice. We look forward to next year's race.
The event was well organized. There was insufficient parking available. There however was street parking if you could find a space close to the race HQ. The timeliness of the race was right on. There was a bit too much time to wait for the awards to get started.
