Sand. Grass. Dirt. Track. Treadmill. Water.

This morning I ran on a treadmill at our club. It was my best choice as I needed something with daycare for our youngest. I wanted the freedom of running without pushing a baby jogger or running alongside the wild & crazy bike skills of a preschooler.


While I ran & let my mind wander, I thought about all the surface types runners use and wondered what surface(s) are your favorites?


This article talks about surface choices too. and mentions how athletes doing plyo drills on sand see bigger gains in sprint speed than grass. I was recently on the beach in Naples, Fla., visiting family and love the feel of sand under my feet.


What surfaces have I forgotten? Oh, snow! What else?
