This morning I ran on a treadmill at our club. It was my best choice as I needed something with daycare for our youngest. I wanted the freedom of running without pushing a baby jogger or running alongside the wild & crazy bike skills of a preschooler.
While I ran & let my mind wander, I thought about all the surface types runners use and wondered what surface(s) are your favorites?
This active.com article talks about surface choices too. http://www.active.com/running/articles/6-tips-to-tackle-any-terrain.htm and mentions how athletes doing plyo drills on sand see bigger gains in sprint speed than grass. I was recently on the beach in Naples, Fla., visiting family and love the feel of sand under my feet.
What surfaces have I forgotten? Oh, snow! What else?
