Running with arch support in the only one shoe??

I am recovering from plantar fasciatus in my left foot and I have resumed some light running. I've been using an arch support but only on the injured foot. A friend recently suggested that I start wearing an arch support in both shoes to avoid a leg length discrepancy down the road. In the past I've used an arch support in the right foot but quickly developed some pain on the outside of the foot. Not sure what to do. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Adam
Personally I would do whatever works. If you're really worried about leg length, you could put a small heel lift in the right shoe. Or maybe your left leg is shorter and the arch support is compensating for it.
But why go looking for trouble?

Thanks for the quick response, lenz! I think I'm going to start with no arch support for the healthy foot and see how that goes. Eventually I'm hoping I can get back to not using any arch supports when my pf has 'cleared up'. We'll see.
Arch supports helped me a great deal (this was many years ago).

Just be careful not to use this intervention too long. I "one-arched" my way into ITBS one year. Len's advice to equalize the effective leg lengths is wise. There may be other issues to address that have nothing to do with biomechanical issues. I recently found there is a correlation between thyroid problems and PF. Many blame the recent increase in thyroid problems on too much flouride. The levels in water are claimed safe, but think of how much more flouride some runners get taking in a lot of municipal water. Enough to exceed safe levels and lead to fluctuations in hormone levels that eventually fragment the plantar fascia. Food for thought.
