Saw the Nutritionist.

I am pleased w/ my appointment to the nutritionist. Good new first. She liked my meal plans, said I have a good balance of all the food groups. Says my calorie intake is fine but would like to get my metabolism burning better to eat more. She, like all of you, recommeded weight training. Now for what all of you wanted to hear. No, she does not think I need to lose any more weight. For my height, weight, age and having two kids she thinks I should be satisfied and maintain. I see her in 1 month to make sure I have started weight training and not lossed any weight. She said I do not having an ED but I have the mindset of one and could easily become that old me. So at the risk of hearing a lot of I told you so's, She recommended counseling for that to avoid a relapse. I think that is probably wise. That is about it. So no more " how can I lose weight questions for me" I'm maintaining. The truth hurt but also set me free if that makes sense. I'm excited for the future now. Wish me luck.

That is all good news, Pink.

It must take a bit of courage to come back and admit that you've changed your approach, so kudos for that. I hope you're able to really change your mindset and appreciate what you've already achieved.

And it's also good to hear of a nutritionist who talks sense, and doesn't just seek to reinforce a client's desires!

I agree that it took a lot of courage to come back and post this. Heck, it took courage to even go to that appointment!

I love this that you said, too:

I want to apologize again for anything I said that sounded harsh. I just identify with the situation so well (except that my doctor told me I do need to lose 8 pounds )

I do wish you luck, both with this and your continued career as a runner.

I was kinda harsh in one of my posts in the "how to lose weight" topic, but you needed to hear it-mine was about your ED mindset. But I am glad you acknowledged that you need a little counseling. Don't think you are different that everyone else; I went to a nutritionist and counselor when I was 13 years old (age 17 now) and it helped a lot.

Good luck with everything!

I try the best I can; some days I really don't feel like running; other days I'm ready to kill someone if I don't run.

I haven't spoke to you before, but I urge you to leave this up. It's so wonderful to see that your outlook has changed, and that you have chosen to take the advice of your nutritionist to love and improve the body you've got.

You may not be a perfect role model, but by taking that step towards health, you're better than many. Good for you, and my prayers are with you today.

Good for you. I think if you try weight training you will be really happy with the results you see. I have read some of your posts but not all, do you do yoga or pilates? You may want to try those also. They both help with toning, strengthening and stretching to 'elongate' muscles, giving your body a slimmer physique. I am happy you went to see a nutritionist and wish you the best of luck. Sometimes it takes a fight to finally be happy with who you are and what you've got.

Re: Saw the Nutritionist.
I'm glad your being strong and wanting to be healthy mentally and physically. It is important to acknowledge your problems that is the start of healing. Remember weight doesn't solve problems and I'm glad you were honest. Do you think you will go to therapy? I go and find the support and reasons behind the way I think helpful. Take care and hang in there.
