Am I ready for this?

My husband and I are taking our family to a trail running weekend festival.  Since we have nobody to watch the kids we can't run the same race.  The 5K and 10K overlap in time so basically, in order for both of us to run, my husband would have to run either the 5K or the 10K (both on Saturday) and I'd run one of the races the next day, the only one of which I could do would *maybe* be the 25K.  I'm feeling about 80% up for the challenge, but I'm nervous...here's my background:

I run about 20 miles a week and I cross-train (yoga 3X a week and an intense Boot Camp class 1X a week).  I've run two 1/2 marathons and both went well, but 25K is a whole new ball game.  My longest run to date was 14.5 last weekend on a flat rail trail very similar to the course I'd be running at the festival.  It went pretty well but toward the end I was dragging (I went out a bit too fast since I was with a friend who's a much faster runner than I am, so by the end I was pretty spent).  I really think that if I focus on just finishing and having fun I can do it, especially if I give myself permission to take some walk breaks as needed and to just enjoy the event.  But, since I've never run 15.5 I'm feeling nervous. The event is in 2 weeks and I may have time for one long run before the race, but that's about it.  I just don't want to get in over my head since I have a few races shortly after that one and if I get injured it will mess up other plans for the season.  I really think I can do it, but I also tend to push myself sometimes so it can be hard for me to tell if I'm being realistic with my goals.  Thoughts?

    Go for it, you ran very close to the distance the other day.  Go easy and have fun, I still feel nervous at all my races and I have done a good many.  Enjoy the week-end, sounds fun!

    You should be fine. 14.5 is plenty for training.  Just reverse what you did for that run  Be conservative for the first 7 - 8 miles and finish strong.

    You have run two half-marathons, so there is your answer...have confidence in yourself, your training and your past accomplishments.  It's a few extra miles, so no big deal.

    I think you'll be just fine . What's one more mile? Not long after you've already run 14.5! Pay more attention to your effort than your speed during your race, it's a better indication of how much reserve you have and how much you have left in your tank. If you start off a bit slower, you will be able to cruise later.

    You can do it!  You're already at 14.5, one more mile...you so got that!  and if you have to walk a little its no biggie, it will just give you something to improve on for the next one!  Go get it!!!

    It sounds like you had a great time in spite of your problem.  You're right, sometimes the experience counts for a lot more then the time it took.  Congratulations and I hope you heal fast!
