Take a minute---the day of remembrance is upon us again....

..... not that any of us who survived, or lost relatives, buddies, or boyhood friends on foreign soil ever do forget.......or, those Americans not impacted by a loss, ever forget those who did......and wish God-Speed for those now serving, and yet to serve.
I have a total of six who made the supreme sacrifice... etched in my memory.
Three blood relatives in WWII------their war!
Three buddies and/or boyhood friends---in Korea,....My/Our "war."
All subsequent conflicts, Vietnam, Irag, Afghanistan----taking their toll on American lives and permanent injuries---never to be forgotten.
Frank!
A special thanks go out to all those who have enlisted since 9/11. It's because of them that we are able to enjoy attending a baseball game on a Memorial Day Weekend.
Jon
That's a good reminder for me to take some time to remember my long-gone father, who flew B-17s over Germany in WWII, my step-dad, who saw lots of action on a destroyer in the Pacific, and my godfather Todd, who passed last month, and flew rescue missions in an amphibious plane for the Navy, also during WWII. And because there's nobody else to remember him, a thanks to Al B, another Army Air pilot who was engaged to my mother, shot down over Germany, captured, and put in a POW camp, from which he eventually escaped, only to be struck fatally by lightning on a base in Texas once he was home. Great men all.
Frank,
Thanks for a thoughtful post and commemoration of the service members who paid the ultimate price.
Have a safe weekend.
Sincerely,
Mike CVUA

All gave Some
Some gave All
God Bless all that serve and have served.
The freedom we enjoy is owed to them.
Thanks guys for your responses to my call. Down deep I know the likes of Mike CVUA, USAF (Ret)--Jon, Johng, Lou, and others on these boards who had the opportunity to serve or not,-------need no prompting from me to to remember those who did serve, now serving, and will be serving-----particularly those who paid the supreme sacrafice, or, returned, or will return, with bodies and minds not the same.
Locally, we have kids who were playing Little League baseball not to many years ago, now deployed in harm's way.
Hard to comprehend!!
Not just Afghanistan and Irag----"boots" on the ground in other areas of the mideast, The Balkans, Southern Philippines, South Korea, areas of Africa, etc.,--"hot spots" or potential "hot spots"----that we know of-----other "spots" round the world, and (guaranteed).... covert "spots"we don't know of, with no end in sight.
Hard to think, our 17 month old Great-Grandson might someday be filling a pair of those "boots."
Frank!
