Hello C25K Newbies!!! I completed my first run this morning and would love to have some running buddies to keep me motivated over the next 9 weeks. I suppose I can't truely consider myself a newbie as I did complete the program back in 2010 but life got busy as it always does and I put myself on the backburner once again. I still remember the awesome feeling of crossing the finish line of the 5K I completed that summer and I want that feeling back!! It felt soooo good to be taking better care of myself and the running did wonders for stress (I am a Grade 6 teacher). I've reached my breaking point where it has become clear that I need to start taking better care of myself and so here I am!! I would love to do this with others that are starting as well whether it be today or next week...we can do it!! :) Tammy
Hiya - me and the GF just completed our W1D1 run this afternoon (It's 6pm in Ireland now) - I know it's not really June yet, but it's close enough
oth me
Both me and the GF are IT professionals who also spend most of our off-time at the PCs, so the running is sorely needed, especially for myself, I am somewhat more overweight and in bad shape than her.
I'm hoping to get started tonight. I completed C25K about a year ago and was forced to stop for the past 8 months or so due to a back injury and fibromyalgia. I have absolutely no will power to get re-started. I've been trying now for a couple months. Now like a dummy I'm going to start when the weather is in the 90's with 90% humidity. I have been reading the threads on here for the past couple of days, and I have to say, the people on here is what got me through the program the first time and the more I read, I'm feeling the motivation coming back.
Thank you to everyone and I hope we all stick to it. C25K is a great program and it really works.
Lori

1st 5K - 7-30-11 Completed-4H 5K-Brown County Fairgrounds-49:36-walked with some jogs added in
I am also getting geared up to start the C25K on 6/1/12. My job has been stressful the last few months and I have decided I need to get some "me time".
Two summers ago I was able to complete two 5K runs, but I haven't done any running since. Mostly due to back issues. I have made the decision it's time to get back into running---no time like the present.
I look forward to checking in here with all of you!
Chris
I am not doing the program, but I would be happy to be here to cheer you on! I have completed three 5k races, with the most recent (May 2012) being the first time I ran the entire thing. Its so rewarding. So as long as you don't mind, I am here for encouragement! ![]()

I have tried several times to start the C25K program and only made it through the first or second week. I have done several 5ks, but have always walked them. I would LOVE to be able to run the next one that I do. My goal is to be able to run the Disney half marathon in January. I will start the program on Friday, June 1st.
Well, I had a great surprise when I went to start W1D1, my husband decided to go with me. He has a bad knee so we walked for a mile rather than start week 1, but that's ok. He'll probably want to walk a couple more times before we start, so I'm looking forward to starting the program on Monday. I'm just thankful he's willing to get off the couch and go with me.

I have been wanting to start this program for over a year now but I just haven't had the right motivation to keep me going. I have always wanted to be a runner but really have no experience. I wasn't very athletic growing up but I feel that I can do this!! I am hoping that having the support of everyone here behind me I will be able to overcome the non-motivation. I am looking to start my first day on Monday June 4th. Has anyone done their training for this onthe treadmill? I am hoping that if I follow through with this program I will be able to do some of the local 5Ks towards the end of summer. I have a 5K that I am participating in this Saturday for Breast Cancer but I don't think I will be doing any running in it.![]()
Hi Tammy,
I am starting this program, too, and would love to be part of a group that keeps each other motivated. I am Angie, and I am 47. I have four kids (age 12, 15, 19 and 20), and work as a High School Guidance Counselor. I am starting the program tomorrow morning, 5/31/12. At 5'5", I weight 198 pounds. Obviously, I would like to drop about 40 pounds, but would mainly like to feel better and have more energy.
Started C25K 5/31/12. 198 pounds.
Welcome everyone...I am so excited to have you all on board!! No matter your skill level this really is a program that anyone can do...I have NEVER been a runner and this program certainly made a believer out of me. For me, it is SLOW and STEADY...there were times when I wanted to increase my speed on the treadmill and would start to feel little aches or pulls so I try and stay with what I can comfortably handle and my goal is to slowly increase once I can run the 5K again. As a teacher this last month of school is always stressful as there is still so much to accomplish and so little time to do it, and to top it all off our family is in the process of moving into a rental as we sold our house and are beginnning a new build. In the past if I had a stressful day I would use that as an excuse to eat poorly and not exercise and once I started to do the C25K and had a bad day, running is exactly what I needed and WANTED to do and it made me feel sooo much better! I fell back into the routine of no exercise and eating poorly and with all the stress headed my way I know the best way to deal with it is to get back that great feeling I had years ago when I was running on a regular basis. W1D2 tomorrow morning..woohoo!! :) Tammy
Good Morning All June C25K Starters!!!!!
I am so excited to be part of this group and today will be Day 1 for me. Reading everyone's posts is very inspiring for me.
I am a 46 year old mother of 3 grown children and 2 grown stepsons. As I referred to in my original post, I am not a skilled runner by any means but have a few 5K races under my belt but not for a few years.
I have a few goals: getting into shape and being able to RUN a 5K.
I look forward to chatting with all of you!!!
Chris
Hi!
I have a feeling I'm going to struggle through the next nine weeks... I just completed W1D1, which shocked me as I thought I'd be unable to do it properly. I'm feeling pretty tired, but the fact that I could actually do it has given me motivation for W1D2 which I hope to do on Sunday =]
Its amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it! I ran 1.8 miles last night @ 25:36. which is a great pace for me, never thought I would be able to run one mile! good music and motivation, keep head up, focus on breathing...next thing you know you're done!
I will admit, my calf muscles are really sore today, but nothing a little walking out won't cure tonight!
Congrats to the W1D1 finishers! The hardest step is behind you now...beginning!!

Finished W1D1. Did 1.84 miles in 30 minutes, which is about a 16:10 pace (sloooowwww). Also treated myself to a brand new pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 15 shoes in bright, neon yellow.
Started C25K 5/31/12. 198 pounds.
I completed this in 2010 as well. I still run occasionally... sometimes 2 times a week. my 11 yr old daughter wants to run . School is done so she is out for the summer and would like to get in shape. so I'm starting this with her Monday. I hope she will love it as much as I and will want to continue even when she starts back to school in fall.
