This was my very first race (I did the 2-mile)! The turnout was very impressive, and I feared getting stuck in the pack (it was a run and walk), but I found it pretty easy to maneuver. The course went through the heart of downtown (lots to look at); people were on the sidewalks cheering on family members. It turned out to be quite a nice morning run.
I only have two comments for improvement in future: there should be at least one watering station along the 2-mile course (they had a couple for the 10k). I'm glad I brought a bottle of water, but there were kids in this race who probably also needed water. Those running the event didn't think one was needed. Also, a women's size of shirt would be great. I was swimming in my general medium-sized shirt and ended up just wearing what I usually run in so I was comfy but would totally wear a women's size.
Already looking forward to next year's event ![]()

This race was very well organized and had a great turnout! There were 3 water stations along the scenic route. The route was pretty flat and wide as well so it wasn't crowded.
The race itself (10K) was fantastic - great course, 3 water stops, obvious mile markers, certified course, chip timing, excellent post-race event (breakfast/runner's village), fantastic support/volunteers, finisher's medal, quick posting of results, and plenty of porta-potties at the start. The age-grading system was a nice touch. Next year, it would be helpful to send an email the week of the race to those who register in advance reminding them of packet pickup location, giving parking directions, telling them of benefits like a certified course and age-grading, etc., esp. for the out-of-towners. It would also be helpful to note mile markers and water stops on the course map. But overall, it was a great race (with perfect weather this year!).
I loved the new route this year. I can't wait for next year. great food music and beer...of course.
Improved course over previous years - Great weather! Ran a PB, but as my bib came without a timing chip (I'll pay better attention next time) it is only documented in my GPS.
