I had read a review of this event somewhere else and it said that there was only one difficult hill and that the course was fairly flat. Don't believe it! This is a very hilly course and the weather is usually hot. Prepare your mind and you will have a great time. The spectators are fabulous and the bands a blast.
Lots of fun, not easy and for the most part well organized.
The event was well put together, the water stations were right where you needed them, the area was really nice, and going to the beach right after was a huge bonus. One of the best races I've participated in, and I will definitely run it again.
excellent. great group of runners and spectators especially the girls at the fire station. outrageous.
I can't emphasize enough how well-organized this event was. Even lines for shuttle buses went quickly for a group of about 5,000 participants. Basically no lines for registration or t-shirts, with minimal lines for baggage claim. Water/gatorade stations perfectly placed. Course challenging, but beautiful. And a long post-race massage without a long line. This race far exceeded my expectations.
This having been my first half marathon all I can say is that I was impressed with the organization of the event. With the number of people running I had anticipated a much more chaotic process in obtaining our bib numbers but it was easier than going to an ATM. I think the course was well laid out and water station set up where they were needed. This was one of the greatest experience of my life(next to my kids being born). To have been a part of such a large number of runners was fantastic. Can't wait until next year to do it again.
This race never disappoints. I felt very taken care of from start to finish. The shuttle busses went smoothly, the volunteers were friendly and plentiful, tons of aids stations and a great finishing festival at the end with pizza and watermelon for the runners. The town of Fairfield was just as impressive. It seems like every driveway had people in it cheering us on. Thanks again for a great race. See you next year for sure!
The event was fine except when leaving the main parking lot, it took me an entire hour just to get out, this needs to be fixed for next time. It was ironic that I had pushed to finish 13.1 miles so fast but it took an hour just to move 100 feet with my car.
This was my first half-marathon and I had a great experience. It was very organized, minimal lines for registration, started on time, water and gatorade stations were placed perfectly. I loved the bands throughout the course as well as the crowd. Even though I don't have another race to compare it to there were a lot of hills and it was hot, but still had a great experience. The beach party afterwards was a great bonus...they should add alcoholic beverages as well though
The race was extremely well organized, with plenty of water stations, and awesome fans to cheer us on!
By far my favorite race to run. The community of supporters, the well-organized staff, excellent signage, and wonderful misters along the course, there's no better way to run 13.1! So much fun for such a commitment. My hat goes off to everyone that makes this race possible.
definitely a tough half-marathon w/the heat and hills. the town of fairfield comes out to support this w/all the spectators along the course. more than enough water/gatorade stations and sprinklers to help cool you down. thanks to all of the volunteers for making this a great day.
This is a great half marathon. Very well organized! The shuttle buses ran very smoothly. the course was challenging with the heat and some of the hills. Ample water stations helped with the heat and the enthusiastic crowds and scenery made the race one of the favorites!

I loved it! Beautiful course, the hills were great and the town support was awesome!
Growing up in the Litchfield Hills, I thought I was prepared for this run. Fact of the matter is there are A LOT of hills on this course! The challenge of the route was offset by the thousands of friendly spectators, scenic roads and numerous bands.
Parking was adequate (I arrived at 6:30) and the many volunteers were friendly and courteous.
Water was readily available on the route and there were many people with hoses and sprinklers offering a quick cool down.
In all, the event was well organized and attended. A very difficult run made fun by the quality of runners and spectators alike. I look forward to next year-
