Hi--just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Nancy, and I will be 55 on Thursday. I'm going to start the C25K this week, in hopes of doing a 5K mud run in September. I'm also going to start working on strength training, especially my legs to protect my knees. I'm glad to have found this site--I hope to pick up some tips and learn from those of you who have been doing this for a while now! I'd love any tips you have on getting started and keeping the momentum going. It's been a while since I've done anything other than the occasional walk outside, and I'm looking forward to becoming active again.
NancyGrace57 Welcome your goals are very achievable . When you get a chance check out the 50& over 5k and beyond thread. Introduce yourself there. you'll find a great group of people who always have something to share. it's also a good place to answer all your questions and share your progress .

Hi NancyGrace! Welcome, and greetings from another 50+ runner! I turned 55 (new age group!) this past week, too.
C25K is a great training plan, and you are very wise to start strength training right from the start. I began running in January 2011 using C25K. There were huge triumphs and sometimes a tough week or two. Some weeks I wasn't able to complete the assigned distance/time, so I repeated the week until I could do it. Remember it is just a plan, tailor it to your needs and abilities. You can do it!
Run strong!
Thanks, Debra, and Happy Birthday! I appreciate the info--it's good to know that if I have a bad week, I'm not alone. But it's also good to know that I can do this and succeed!
Hi NancyGrace! Yes, you can do this and congratulations for starting. Like Tony and Debra, I too am active on the 50 + thread.....I'll be 61 on July 11 and have been running over 2.5 years. I started w/ C25k and love running. Come over to the 50+ thread and introduce yourself there!
