Re: looking for WASSARD/WOODY 116........Vol, 6
Hey all! Long time no, see... I haven't run in a week... I did do some exercises with hand help weights & stretching - so better than nothing. Have been trying to get sick, guess its the season.. Kids have been sick, people at work etc. So rested, & slept a lot this week.. so may have fought it off.

Interestingly enough these meds are keeping me breathing fine & its been cold, down to the 30's at night. We have snow on the hills above us & fall colors everywhere. interesting combo. But breathing is still good, even with way less running. So.... I've been thinking.... I may give myself a break on the running, no worrying about increasing speed, etc, but run maybe 2x a week, & go to the gym for weights 2x a week... That's really all the time I have for exercise.. due to kids, work & all without stressing one of those things. This is more a do what I need to do thing.. you know balance.. shocking thing.. lol.. This trying to improve for the idea of doing a 5k just isn't working, so am finally decided to do what will work for me.

Debbie - interestingly enough, I'm suppose to push it a little, just not too much. tricky balance. Sorry things are rough for you now, but glad its not as bad as last winter. Well... the body is a funny thing, it lets you know when it is too much.. the hard part is paying attention to it. So, it wasn't the area you thought would get you, but another. I think that's not unusual, you watch one area & another creeps up on you. I have to balance my alignment/breathing issues all the time - paying attention to both, its a hard thing & look how long its taken me to get it right.. this is part of the reason I'm adjusting, alignment has just been horrible for me lately!

Tom - did I hear a rumor that your hips are better??? hope so!

Shell - woohoo!! you are doing great!

Re: looking for WASSARD/WOODY 116........Vol, 6
Hello all,
I've been keeping up for the most part, but I've a little problem. On my last run Tues. night I noticed a bit of pain at the back of my left leg, on my hamsting at my knee. I think the inserts have changed the way I run and I don't know what to do about it. I haven't run since, but I want to get back to it. I was at 8/10 run and 1/10 walk in my quest to get back to running a full 3 miles. I was thinking about cutting back on how much I run in proportion to walking. Maybe I went too fast for my body to adjust to the inserts. Tomorrow or maybe tonight I'll give it a try. I'm going to try paying attention to where my feet are landing and how.

Tonight I want to go on a haunted hayride with dh, who is decidedly not enthusiastic. It may rain which would dampen my enthusiasm.

Rin I am doing pretty much what you're doing. I guess we just have to accept we're doing what we can. Enjoy your workouts whatever they are.

Busy weekend I hope everyone has a good one.

Patty

I was a slacker for a little while, almost 2 weeks.. was just tired.. So, finally got on the treadmill last night cuz i just felt like it. I was pleasantly surprised that I could run I ran 15 minutes at 3.6, 10 at 3.8, 5 at 3.6. So 30 minutes straight for 1.87 miles. I'm very happy with that.

Shell - good luck on the 5K! are you posting over at KR? I saw that they have a running moms & dads area over there.

Patty - I'm so sorry. I hope that its all better when you try to run. Are you seeing a podiatrist? Maybe he/she could be helpful. You are right, we need to accept that we are doing what we can. Its so hard though...

Tom - hope you're having a fabulous time on vacation!!

Great job Shell! Wish I could do that Well I'm possibly doing a 5K on the 10th. John at Boomers/Johnny at KR wants me to run with him.. he's fast, but says he would run or run/walk or whatever with me - so that I won't be last, he'll run in behind me... isn't that sweet? Had given up hope, but with Thursday's run maybe its possible.. I'm feeling better, so off to run right now!

CYL!!

Reporting my run from this morning.. it felt good, maybe I rested when I needed to & started back when I needed to...

2.55 miles on the treadmill, 40 minutes straight running - between 3.6-4.2 can you believe it? In addition to that, I was actually able to start running after 10 minutes of walking. Such a shocker!! but a great one

Hello all,
Shell woohoo!!! Your not just Supergirl, but Speedygirl!! You're doing something right, keep it up!

Rin wow! You went from a bit of slacking to a full 3 miles in a very consistent time. I think you'll be able to do that 5k all right.

Well with rain Friday night and Saturday morning combined with a busy schedule, I didn't run this weekend. I did run this morning and I went slower as well as walked more. I couldn't tell any particular problem with my stride. I think I'm a mid-foot striker. I think I probably was overstriding and changing my footstrike when I was going faster.

Tom how was your vacation? Rain-free, I suppose.

Have a good day all.
Patty

IP - I know shocking isn't it? You know I think the better breathing it has a lot to do with it raining a off & on & hardly any pollen in the air. Good for you that you got out there. Hang in there! you'll get it figured out.

Tonight I ran 2 miles on the TM in 31 minutes. I pushed it a little hard so cut it short, when the body seemed done. Next time its going to be really easy.... just to balance it out.

Night all...
