Re: Anyone Else Use A GPS For Running?
Terry thanks for the tip on Amazon. Now I can upgrade for less money. Never thought of checking there.

Re: Anyone Else Use A GPS For Running?
gps is amazing technology isn't it? a luxury item no doubt and definitely unecessary for tracking distance unless those distances take you off road. but no doubt, a fun toy. i bet the newer models have all kinds of features. i have an older one, like 2002 or so. it works pretty good except under trees, in the city, beneath tall buildings and under bridges. i could run around in a forest somewhere all day and then come out at the same point i entered and my gps might tell me i hadn't moved at all. Also it is a battery hog. the new ones are probably better in all those ways. I would consider buying a gps/watch combination. one the size of a normal watch. i think i saw one for like 300 bucks or so. maybe in a few years i'll buy one used.

Re: Anyone Else Use A GPS For Running?
I just got the 205 last week and am in love! 2 running friends at work were raving and I couldn't resist any longer. I got mine online for 154$ at walmart.com. I got it just in time for the half marathon I ran on Saturday and I was so glad to have it! It really was nice to keep track of my pace and mileage during the race. I can't wait to try it out on the trails this weekend!

Re: Anyone Else Use A GPS For Running?
I know this one is a little old but I had to add my feedback. I use the Suunto x9i. It is more than I really need to be honest. I love the GPS feature but it was a little difficult to figure out at first. There are many aspect of the watch that must be set before it will work for you. Although there are more features than I can name, I would not recommend this one unless you plan on getting into some real extreme off road stuff. I like the fact that I can set waypoints and memory points and get all of the elevation data but I really don't need it just to know how far I've ran. I mean you can actually set the darn watch up to alarm if conditions are right for rain! I could just look up but instead I bought an expensive watch to tell me. Looking back I know I should have bought a less expensive gps watch that would have done what I needed right out of the box instead of buying one with the most bells a whistles and a user's manual that leaves you wondering what the heck you've gotten into. I have found that I pay more attention to time spent running that to distance ran. I have a good idea of my pace now and have covered the same area so many times I know every inch of it so the Suunto is becoming more of a stop watch than a GPS watch.
