Team Butterfy Effect (July 30-Aug 5)

Good morning all. My turn to start the post!

Christy, how did your race go? Did you see the post in the med tent forum on dizziness? Bluelake, sammie, FMR, jable, mom, everyone, how are you holding up?

I bought new shoes Sunday! Woo-hoo! They're Asics Gel-Nimbus 9s.There is something mysterious and cool about new sneakers. I think it's not just the sneakers themselves but all the possibilities they hold for seeing cool places and doing great things (like trying my first race, which I hope to do in September). My brother and I, when we were little, used to race around the parking lot after we got new shoes just to try them out. Don't laugh, but I actually took my brand new shoes to bed Sunday night. Yep, in bed I'm looking at every feature of these extremely expensive high-tech running shoes that I want to last me through the next 500 miles (Isn't it weird we recently graduated C25K and now we're thinking about the next 500 miles?) Anyway, I'm turning them around this way and that, noting their thick cushioning and their sedate blue and black stripes compared to my dayglow orange Nimbus 6s sitting out there by the door. Yesterday morning I woke up excited to take a test run. Then I heard heavy rain hitting the roof and thunder. I looked out the window. Flashes of lightning and big puddles of water. I briefly considered the relative improbability of lightning strikes, but no way was I going to get my brand new shoes wet, so I went back to sleep. I'm going to go tonight after the temp cools down. Can't wait!

Have a great week everyone! I'm off to jog alongside little kids and ponies all day. So cute. I just got a new group in yesterday, and they're all fabulous! It's going to be a hot one.

Re: Team Butterfy Effect (July 30-Aug 5)
Congrats on the new shoes, ThursdayNext. I was so happy when I got mine last month so I can totally relate!

My 5K is tomorrow night, so I'll be sure to give a full report when I get back. My roommate is going to run it too -- this will be her very first race. We won't be running side-by-side because she's been running for longer than me and I'm sure is quicker, but it's nonetheless going to be fun to do it with her.

I have a cardiologist appointment for next Thursday, August 9th. I'm definitely looking forward to hopefully getting some answers!

How's everyone else doing?

Yo, where is everyone? I've had a rough week so far, only 4 mi. I've been busy getting things done at the house. Wed I only got in 1 mi and a thunderstorm popped up. I debated whether to stick it out or go home. I don't want to be a wuss! Don't mind the rain, but there was thunder and lightening. I opted to go home. Heard the next day there were damaging winds and lots of lightening. Yesterday I had a headache and just came home and took a nap. Hopefully the rest of the week will go better.

Christy, take care of yourself. It concerns me when you say you're having cardiac issues.

Thursday, I just got my Nimbus Gel 9s as well. I love them! When I got fitted for the first time, I got the Nimbus and that's all I've bought since. I'm so glad they finally made them in beautiful blue!

Ed, you must be training hard, don't hear much from you anymore.

sammie, how's it going? Where are you from?

Mom, How's C25K? When I hit 2 miles, it seemed things got better. Hang in there!

Jable, lswife?????

Hey you guys!!! Sorry I haven't posted in a while... My intention was to start the one hour runner but realized that it just doesn't fit in my schedule right now. I was a little dissapointed in myself but what the heck... so I've been running 30 minutes Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and find that that is good enough for me... How's everyone else doing??? What is going on with the cardiac issues Christy??? I missed that. Good to hear from you guys, keep me up to date on how you guys are doing. Jable

Re: Team Butterfy Effect (July 30-Aug 5)
I'm totally fine. I did the 5k on Wednesday with ease (haha, I walked almost all of it). I'm not pushing my body at all and actually am listening to the doc. It sucks. I feel like I'm gaining weight. It really sucks. A LOT. At any rate, I see the cardiologist on Thursday. I'm hopeful that I will be able to resume cardio activity very soon I really need to!

Guys, I've noticed most folks not posting as often as we used to. What do you think if we a) merged with another group or b)just post a thread without a date and keep it going?

Re: Team Butterfy Effect (July 30-Aug 5)
I agree that a perpetual thread is a good idea. The only problem is having to scroll through pages to find it!

Anyhow...just wanted to check in briefly. I am being fitted tonight for a halter heart monitor tonight. Then, tonight, I am able to work out as much as I want and even to the verge of passing out. I have to return the monitor tomorrow.

In mid-September I will be going for a stress test. My EKG and echo were both excellent. And, my blood pressure and pulse are that of a very athletic person. She said one of the problems could be that I need more sodium in my diet to combat my low blood pressure. Who knows? I'm just happy that I have the OK to resume cardio activity! Woohoo!

Re: Team Butterfy Effect (July 30-Aug 5)
Hi all!,
I'm not gone, just have had some weird hours lately. The lap swim hours at the pool are 7:45-9:00pm so I've had some late nights. I really don't want to do the morning lap swims (5:45 -7:00am) if I can help it, but it's starting to look that way. Anyway, things are going good here. I hope everyone is doing OK.
