OKaYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY....after a shinsplint that I tried to "run through" resulting in knee pain and basically made me take a couple of months off, I am feeling good and am back and wiser.....go slow to go faster? Got some new shoes too, I think the worn out Asics contrubuted to the shinsplint. Running on Nike Lunerfly 2's....nice shoe!
I am looking for a nice LA area 5K about 30 days out (organized participation helps motivate me) and will be back in the swing of things with a long range goal of running my birth year in an organized 5K i.e. 19:59.........but as I said I am wiser now and will go at this goal much more slowly that I was. I have much room for improvement since my PB is currently 28:40....the 19:59 might take a couple of years to reach.
I think I will also start heart rate training to make sure I am getting the most out of my efforts....we'll see. It's nice to be back.
First of all, it is good to see you are back! Good luck getting back on track and be carefull in the begining, sometimes injuries just "lurk" around a corner waiting to come back, so take it easy.
Concerning your PBs, you have quite a long way to go, but considering were you come from (no running at all), I would say you have already done the hardest part.
Good luck with your training!
5k: 20:12 (December 31st 2012)
10k : 44:30 (November 6th 2011, March 18th 2012)
Half Marathon: 1:35:27 (February 3rd 2013)
I like half marathons! Seven completed so far and trying to get back on optimal shape to improve my PB. Once I complete my 10h half I will start thinking about full marathons.
Ruuning the Colonel Allensworth State Park 5K in Earlimart, CA on Saturday. I have set a stretch goal to run it in 27:00 or less.....we shall see. It should be cool, flat and fast.
Did the Colonel in 27:17......arrgghhh so close! Still my best and better than 28:40.
November 4 I will chug my way through the 5k portion of the Santa Clarita Marathon. I will be really pleased to best the Allensworth 27:17 by even a second, it has some pretty decent hills (from my ***** perspective)....I will keep you posted....wow, huh?
