I've been running around 70 miles a week in an effort to qualify for Boston. I've never specifically trained to run a marathon that fast, but have run marathons in the past without getting closer than 11 minutes of my qualifying time.
With times that far off, I knew going into this training cycle I'd have to train harder than in the past, hence the increase in miles. My goal marathon is just over 3 weeks away, so my high mileage is finally winding down.
And I think it's neat D.H. has raised his own bar just a bit, it's what makes us better runners.
