20,000 Miles

With my run today I crossed a bit of a threshold: I have now run over 20,000 miles accumulated and tracked since 1983.

I had always been an athlete, and always ran. But I started to run to be a runner on the day of the Boston Marathon in 1983. I had gone to watch the finish for many years -- but that year --- Greg Meyer and Joan Benoit won. I had been talking to a friend who was a runner. And that day I decided I was going to run, and some day run a marathon.

The circumference of the earth is 24,901 miles --- I guess that will be the next way-mark.

Congratulations!  I should go back through my logs and see how far I've gone.  I'm not a mega-mileage runner but typically get over 1000 a year.  Though I don't think I have logs for the first few years.
