When you first start off, you will be excited to get out there each and every day. For some people, this is probably not a bad idea. For others, they ignore the signs and symptoms their body is trying to communicate to them. The biggest concern with starting off is trying to avoid injury and allowing your body to rest. With that being said, if you feel like your body is allowing you to go on an extra walk on "your night off" then that is up to you. It is also ok, to take a night off on a normal run day if your body is telling you it needs to rest.
The brisk walk is not a bad idea and will keep you active.
Gook luck.
