I've been running (actually its more like slogging) for the last two years. I average about 15 miles a week. I am thinking about investing in a heart rate monitor and want to learn more about running by heart rate zone. Can anyone recommend a good website or book to start with?

I used a book called "Precision Heart Rate Training". It's OK, the best of those I could find at the time.
I think the biggest drawback to heart rate training is determining your true maximum heart rate (MHR). The formulas (22 minus age for instance) are not particularly accurate. There are ways to approximate it yourself (http://www.howtobefit.com/determine-maximum-heart-rate.htm and http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/general/heart-rate-training-find-your-maximum-heart-rate/181.html suggest several ways to get close) or you can be tested at a "human performance lab" ($$$). An alternative in my mind is to ignore MHR, run by feel and monitor your heart rate. That should give you a good idea of heart rates for different types of workouts and you can use these to determine "zones" that work for you.
