Ran 5 miles 37:00 last night on the TM and then did .3 more miles for a cooldown.

Melody..... Go get 'em!!! Have a great time and thank your sister, too!!

Coyote..... Somehow, I can't see you gaining 5 pounds while doing nothing but being a bum.  Happy tapering.

NHLA..... Any good cars??? Did anyone ask you if you needed a ride?

OC- the marathon I'm running is also on the 21st;I totally know how you feel, anticipating it but kinda tired and want it over.  I will have to be back at work Monday morning, so I'm sure I'll look funny limping around the office.

linus- thanks for your post.  I'm actually doing the marathon in honor/memory of my brother who passed away end August, as well as my fave sister in law who passed from cancer in February, my Mom who passed of Alzheimer's disease in January, and my father in law who passed last September of ruptured aortic aneurysm.  Each in their own way walked a very hard road for a number of years, so I felt this was the least I could do.  It is on my brother's birthday.  I am sure I will shed many tears during the run.

I'm continuing the easy runs during the taper for the "Honky Tonk Dells Marathon".  Glad I don't have to push any harder.  As OldCoyote said, I'm just tired right now.  The taper comes at a good time!

    Run safe and strong friends.

They had all the new cars and quite a few old cars. The new Altima and Dart are nice. The Jag was my choice. Liked the tool box built into the bed in the Dodge truck. There was a Ford mid engine race car and a Lotis. Lots of 50's trucks that were so nice.

    NHLA - Nice mileage

Dan - You're running through the Dells while I'm on the Boulder backroads. We'll both be running in some beautiful fall scenery.

    PTATW - welcome

13.1 miles this morning, 2 hrs 12 minutes. Felt good. Same route as last week but I cruised the (not inconsiderable) uphills, instead of training hard. Saw a few muley does, and as we've had rain the past couple of nights, the autumn blooming forbs are in color. The rain is good for the trees, too. Cottonwoods are native to the valley, and there've been some maple, locust, Russian olive, and various fruit trees planted over the years. Along with the wild chokecherry, it was a colorful morning of burgundies, reds, bright yellows, silver greens and harvest golds.

    One week to go.

    Run free!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

I finished my first Half Marathon and met all my goals!! I finished feeling (reasonably) strong and did not injure myself. My hubby, sis and bro in law were there to cheer me on. The morning started out very wet and cold, but the rain stopped just as the 1/2 marathon started. Beautiful countryside, fall colors and a well run race. The hills were brutal. I felt like I nailed the big hill at mile 5, 8 and 10, but the uphill at 12 through the finish were tough. I finished at 2:43:05, 6th in my division of 11 total (old ladies in our 50's). I definately had NGRGirls "ugly cry face" going on! LOL The time was much better than I thought it would be. My sis snapped this shot of me on the UPHILL finish! Wow, were there a lot of hills! I'm so happy to have this "under my belt" Yay!

NHLA So cool about Sandy and the deer, that's amazing! As are your miles.

Old Coyote I can understand your fatigue with the early rising and the "grind" of the training. It will be worth it! I'm glad the 13.1 was a sweet run.

NRDgirl Thanks!! I though of you today at the finish, when the tears just started flowing.

linuscatch LOVED, loved loved your thoughts about your last run. Beautiful, thanks!

noraspberries Way to go, girl! I hear ya on the "find a bush i can hide behind and squat" <~ Hate that! Today, the Porta Pottys were such a luxury!

    Debm2011 Thanks, Deb!!

Francessmom Welcome! I'm so impressed with the "split leash" thing AND your half marathon time! Nice

jmsab23 Thanks, buddy! No rain today, but killer hills.

justrundan Wow, that is a lot of loss! I shed a few tears today thinking of my mom, my mother in law and my beautiful niece who just had a baby and now has to fight cancer too. ((Hugs))

Webpro11 Thank you!!! It WAS great.

I ran 20 miles today. Not training for anything, just for the heck of it. There were lots of pain and walking towards mile 19. It took fooorrrreeever.

MelodyLea - Congrats! I thought you were running with a green dumbell at first.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

MelodyLea High Fives and Congrats!  Woohoo.  Great pics

justrundan - what a horrible year you have had - I'm so sorry for all of your losses.

    OldCoyote -  beatiful run

igotwings - 20 miles just for the heck of it - that's amazing

12.11 hard fought miles today.  It was pouring rain this morning so I postponed my run to the afternoon.  Miles 10 and 11 were rough - more walking than I'd hoped.  Mile 12 was a little stronger but my feet hurt by the end.  And it got dark so fast!  Next time will be better.  3 weeks to my half . . . .
