marathon training - tempo runs

Hi.
I've been running for a while and now I'm starting to train for the Tel Aviv marathon. 145 days from now.
So the Beginner Marathon Program (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_4/130.shtml) sounds like a good idea.
In the "The Runner's Building Blocks" there is something called Tempo Runs> but in the training program there are no such runs.
So when do I have to do the tempo runs if at all?
Thanks.
A beginner marathon program is designed to get you to the finish. Speed is not a factor, so it would not usually include tempo runs.

Hi.
There are also no tempo runs in the competitive program. (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_4/127.shtml)
Another question is what pace I should run on days where the pace is not mentioned?

The tempo runs are there. There is a different term being used -- "pace"
I'm sorry but I can't see it.
Only places where the pace is mentioned are Farltek, Intervals and Hills, and it says
All other workouts (including the long runs) should be run at an easy training pace -- emphasis on "easy."...
The whole Tuesday column on the chart is filled with pace runs.
I don't tink 'tempo' is the same thing as 'pace. My understanding of 'pace' is running your expected marathon splits, but over a shorter distance. 'Tempo' starts off slow and builds to a faster-than-marathon pace.

I did my first marathon last year kinda sorta using one of Hal Higdon's plans, and this year I'm using his Advanced 1 and sticking to it pretty closely and it's working out well http://www.halhigdon.com/ I'd suggest taking a look at them. There's a plan for everyone, and they're well laid out and explained.

First, there is no necessity to do tempo runs. It depends a lot on the philosophy of the person designing the plan as well as the person executing it (you). The Tuesday runs are all intervals generally at 5K to 10K pace. You could easily substitute tempo runs for some of the Friday runs, preferably later in the plan.. Also the races in weeks 12, 14 & 16 would be considered tempo runs.
