Just when I wanted to give up............

Hi guys. I am finishing up the last weeks of the program (week 7). I went out for a 28 min run the other night and like many of you, I am fighting the heat and the humidity. And to make matters worse, I mapped out my run and found out just how slow I was going! I was supposed to be at 2.5 miles and barely made it to 2. Rats! Anyway, so I am walking home and I see my youngest kiddo in front of the house jumping up and down but she will is not running up to meet me which I thought was so strange. I get to the house and she has the cutest little sign in very sweet 7 year old penmanship on loose leaf paper - "GO MOM". So sweet I about cried!!

Just had to share! And NO, I am not giving up!! With a cheering section like that, how could I?!

Way to go, dinakay! That's adorable, and it's great you have someone so motivational to keep you going strong!

Just so you know, though, there's no reason to feel badly about your speed. The program is meant to be done EITHER by speed or by distance. It doesn't mean that you ought to be running 2.5 miles in 25 minutes! 10-minute miles are something most of us can only dream of at this stage, so your speed is very respectable. Congratulations, and don't be discouraged at all: you're doing great!

What a great story, and what a great role model you are for your daughter!

Be proud at how far you've come already in the program - don't worry about your speed right now!

I really understand how discouraged you were and I wish I had the kind of support that you're getting from your daughter. That was a really sweet story. Hold that thought for the future if another bad day comes, it will help you get through it.

Re: Just when I wanted to give up............
We all run slowly at first. Its not time and distance, its distance OR time.

Almost everyone does time. If you are doing the time suggested, you are doing it exactly right. Forget about the distance. Once you finish the C25k program, you will find that you will be able to run the extra few minutes to reach 3.1 miles.

Hooray for your 7 year old for doing that!

Wow how touching. What a great mental image to push you through on the days you want to give up.
