Hey all. I haven't been able to get into the forums much this week. Any free minutes I've had have been spent waiting for the page to load! Today seems to be working a little better ... or maybe I'm just luckier today.
Anyhow, big news in my world is that I've actually been able to run a little. I tested my knee with a two mile run on Saturday and felt fine during a three mile run on Monday. I'm going to stick with an every-other-day thing for at least two weeks, so hopefully my knee will continue to hang in there okay!
Otherwise, I've just been up to the usual stuff. Irish Paul is back from Ireland, so we met up Friday night. I was out with some of my friends, and he was out with some of his friends, so we all met up which was unexpected, but good, because now Paul's met just about all of my city friends. At any rate, I think we're going to try to grab a drink or something this evening.
And in a half hour, we have Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundaes at work. It's like Random Collegiality Week here. Last night we had a big work happy hour (or, more accurately, four hours). Not sure what's going on, but I ain't complaining!
crexion: I'm happy to hear that you had a nice vacation and that the reunion was such a nice time! I totally agree with you about the city vs. suburbs/rural thing when it comes to babies. Literally, every single person I know who still lives in my hometown (even people I only know tangentially) has at least one kid. Meanwhile, only one person in my extended group of friends has a child. Just think everything kind of gets bumped back a couple years in the city!
Any my that's a small school you went to!!! And a small town you grew up in!!! We had two times as many kids in my high school as you had in your whole town. Crazy! One of my best friends went to a very small high school, and it sounded really nice in a lot of ways. Everyone was super close, and she and her sister are actually the only girls I know who are still close friends with people from high school. (Maybe it's just my experience, but it seems like guys tend more often to stay friends with their high school friends, while girls tend to be closer to the friends they make in college and just after college.) Anyhow, good stuff! I'm glad that you had a nice time!
heatherrick: People are funny about houses, aren't they? My roommate is moving to South Carolina, and I guess her family is being somewhat over-the-top aggressive about her buying something rather than renting something. She's been to Charleston literally twice in her entire life. She knows next to nothing about the city -- whether some areas are better than others, whether she'll like it at all down there, etc. She's got some minor savings, but she's going down there without a job, so who knows what kind of income she'll have. It's just kind of not the right time for her to buy something, and I don't really understand why her family is being so psychotic about it. Odd!
At any rate, you know what's right for you! And I'm happy to hear that the apartment is even better than you'd hoped it would be! I'm sure you're dying to get home to see the place!
bcg: Random proposals are humorous! My favorite random proposal was the guy sitting outside the grocery store in my neighborhood who asked me, "Will you marry me? I've got food stamps!"

Okay, almost time to make sundaes! Gotta run!
