My last run was...how was yours?

Ok- I got to ask. Is DD = Da Daughter and DH = Da Husband?

So, today I put in 5.06 on the TM. I kept it at 3.0 for first 3.1miles. I would have liked to put in a little more time on the TM, but the youngest kept getting too close. Looking really forward to a run outside tomorrow. Forecast is for mid 40's to mid 50 with Fog.

I checked out Daily Mile and didnt love it. Been there twice. Its 3am. Im sure you're all sleeping. Enjoy the weekend.

I swear it's getting colder each day here in MN, brrrr!!

I'm embracing indoor running; went to a health club to try it out; nice, small, private but machines need to be updated especially the 2 TMs, yes only 2!!  Can't imagine the waiting line for them!!

Anyway, there was only one other person who is on the cycle; most of the women who came in and out about every 15 minutes were using the tanning booth!! yikes!

10 minutes on elliptical; ran some easy comfortable intervals, 6.1 miles = 1:10; 1/2 mile walking; 20 minutes core exercises and stretching.

What I NEED is a deep tissue massage!!!

My AZ MT is awesome, very knowledgable about anatomy and understands athletes' aches, stiffness, etc.

It's difficult to find someone in MN, tried one earlier in the summer by referral but I walked out of there all greased up and not feeling any better.

OC, Linus:  great race times!  Impressive you braved the cold temps!

My last run was...how was yours?

MelodyLea - virtual high five to you on the road today

OldCoyote - it's good to take time off -  I just have to keep reminding myself that "rest" is not a four letter word.

Coyote and Linus - great race!  That must have been fun to meet up.   I'd love to meet up with some of my fellow New Englanders at a race sometime.

degregorius - did you get any snow?

jmsab - ouch! I think that would freak me out having the power go out while on the TM - not to mention the pain of slamming into it.  Hopefully the Y has a backup power system.

Dan - "Miles on the treadmill are better than no miles at all" <~~ so true.

Jeff - not something I've found  myself saying:   "I would have liked to put in a little more time on the TM" LOL

Finally back on the road today.  YAY!  Sidewalks were completely clear with all the melting we've had over the last week.  But oh so foggy!  The fog rising off the pond was beautiful.   6.8 miles.  I stopped at the grocery store to pick up juice for church and ran the last mile home with it tucked under my arm like a football, alternating arms every few blocks or so.  I guess I take the phrase "running errands" a little too literally sometimes.

I've opened an account on Daily Mile for fun.  It's kind of like Facebook for runners with posting and comments, but it also has forums like this.  There are also forums at Runners World.  I'm sure there are also other places I haven't discovered if we decide to migrate.

    Happy running, friends.

Debm: pardon my lawyerly tone, but ahem, the perciptiation alleged to be snow fell within  the Chicago City Limits.  There was a presence on, but not completely covering the ground, not exceeding one milimeter.

Oh allright, I don't own a car anymore, but I'm sure it made a crummy driving experience.  The North and Northwest suburbs probably got more snow that stuck to the ground.

Bottom line: in Chicago we got wind and cold.

My last run was...how was yours?

Today was really foggy and about 44 degrees when I went out to run.  Did just over 5 miles in 44 minutes.  I felt good the entire run.  I like running in fog and mist because it makes breathing easier.  I wore capri tights, long sleeve under armour and my neon yellow tech shirt for visibility in the fog. I was cold for the first mile since I forgot gloves, but my hands warmed up along with the rest of me. I haven't done yoga in a week and really need to stretch! Oh - I did see snowdrops (flowers) today but no snow!

az - I hope your husband is doing well.  What a frightening experience!  You deserve a long relaxing massage!

Jeff - I hope you mom is doing okay, too.  I would love to see a pic of your chicken coop!

Coyote and Linus - Congrats on your race!  Those are some awfully cold temps!

Deb - The entire east coast must be fogged in!  Way to go on your 6.8!  I too opened account on Daily Mile.  I do not do Facebook - so the site is confusing to me.  I'll have to have my one of my DDs explain it to me.

Leigh - Awesome 10!  Come summer we will all be complaining about the heat!  I still prefer running outside in temperature extremes to running on a treadmill in a climate controlled room.

Decided on a goal for January to do at least 10 miles/ week along with at least two other cross-training workouts.

I hope everyone is healthy and content!  Keep running!

My last run was...how was yours?

I ran a strong 4 miles this morning in the heavy fog and mild 38 degrees. I'd planned for a 10 mile run, but teen-shuttling trumped LSD.

jmsab23 Good to hear your adding on the miles again.

NHLA You have a cold? It sounds like it came and went quickly though, with 16 miles today! I'll check out runningahead.

linuscatch 80 degrees!?!?! Wow, that must have been lovely. How fun you met the Coyote. The race sounds great and congrats on getting your pace worked out!

Hey All - Got up at 1:30, saw son lose boot in river, spent 30 minutes looking for it. (didnt) spent 30 minutes chasing dog who wont listen to me yet but really likes to run. spent 30 minutes having "breakfast" and playing Mario Cart with son who didnt lose boot in river. Drove 1:15 to MA to see mom in Hospital. Leg looks better. She should go home. She and docs are blaming it all on an Althlete's Foot infection from a scratch at the YMCA. (wear your flip flops!) After 30 minutes there, drove home, wife took kids with her to mandatory meeting at work. I had enough time to make a wrap and eat it then drive to work. Looks like tomorrow will have a better chance of an outdoor run.

EVERYONE... NHLA, Deb feel free to find me on the other sites. I still like this one best. But, I signed up with RunnersWorld = CT JEFF; DailyMile = JEFFCT; RunningAhead = JEFF CT; and I had an account at MapMyRun = Jeff Dill ?  -

DebM - you said you were a New Englander. So are Melody and myself. Where are you from Deb? The 2 of us will be at the same race on May 28th. Maybe you can make that one too. I liked your 6.8m errands.

NHLA - nice 16 mile run!

Francesmom- maybe it was the temps you were listing, but are you a New Englander too? Heres a photo of the chickens. I like the 10mile / wk goal. Good luck!20121129_152610 (768x1024).jpg

Jeff, I live in southeastern PA right on border of DE and PA.  Exit 1 on I-95 in Pennsylvania.  We vacation every August in CT near Voluntown which is on CT/RI border.  I may have to look for a race in your area at that time. Love the chickens!  Thanks for the picture!  Are you RT at a hospital?  That would explain the crazy work schedule.  I hope you get your outdoor run in before the weather turns.

Deb - What is your Daily Mile name?  I think mine is Marie S.  On Map My Run I am either Francessmom or Marie S.

Melody - Four miles is better then no miles! I love the weekends, but it is nice to have the kids in school so I can get things done!  Which is why I ahve time right now to post!

    Have a great week everyone!

My last run was...how was yours?

Those are some amazing miles you are all putting up and I can't wait until I can post a 10mm. Fog is not wind, snow and ice. We had long steady downpour which you're all likely to see today. Don't count on the small moments of let-up to last. Hope it isn't too cold.

Yesterday 7 LS miles, 1:56:26 on TM. That's a 16.32 mm. So slow. No patience. The first hour I refused to accept going that slow (I am used to walking faster during run/walk) and ended up having to constantly walk to get HR down. Second hour found I could jog at 3.4 and maintain HR so jogged 50 min.straight which gives me a chance to build some stamina and leg muscles. Three HR runs down and what I've learned: 1) it's hard; 2) I was definitely training anaerobically. The third thing is interesting. I felt physically well on Friday and my pace at 121 HR was 15 mm. I felt ill yesterday and my pace at 121 HR was 16:32. I felt running when ill was slower and harder to breathe and this shows it's harder on your heart. I still don't know what my max. aerobic HR should be. According to Maffetone, it should be 111 and acc'd to Mark Allen, 121 to 126. Getting the upper limit will mean more improvement faster. Pushing past the upper limit will mean working anaerobically and failure. If I knew what feelings to look for I could just nail it down during a TM run and go with that. So it goes. It's been fun having a project and the mental challenge seems to be building my motivation. Checked the training schedule for the full from local running store and I am only a few miles behind (2.4 to 9.4 for the week). Will try to get on track this week. I don't know if I'll be able to actually run the race given the Flying Pig course but if I keep working at this pace, I shouldn't have trouble running the distance, assuming I don't fall asleep in the process. Ugggh!!!  Starting WW again today. It's second flank attack on speed. Will see what effect this has on HR. Stole from OC's Toned Bones. SignOn is TrimNBonz.

Run strong and fierce, my friends!!
