I have run this race the past two years and I highly recommend the event. The 10K trail run starts through the streets for about 3/4 of a mile (down hill) before it makes a right hand turn into the trail. Single track for the beginning part of the trail so make sure you settle into your pace prior. The trail is a great combination of hills and flats - pacing is the key. One water stop about mid way on the trail. Make sure to save some energy for the 3/4 mile up hill finish. I run with trail shoes as I prefer the grip on the trail but you can run with regular sneakers. Just watch out for the stumps and roots that can take even the best down. This event also has a great cause associated with the event - the Ulman Cancer Foundation. In addition, the pre and post race spread is WELL stocked. Good event for experienced trail runners as well as first timers to trail running.
