This is a great race-- it is not a "PR course" in that it has some 90 degree turns and a granite dust path at the beginning and end; however, you can still run fast, and it's very well done.  The volunteers know what they're doing and are extremely helpful and friendly.  The course is well-marked and safe, and there are several course marshals along the way to prevent wrong turns.  There are awesome awards and some really nice door prizes as well.  Plenty of post-race food and goodies too.  It's a really nice atmosphere-- great for kids and families, and it's for an even better cause.  Well worth the drive if you don't live in Elkin and a great community event if you do.  Highly recommend!
