    Try some Vicks Vap-o-rub, I swear by that stuff, make sure you get some on your back where your lungs are, there's something about that stuff that just opens me up and makes me feel so much better.  I think I'll do ok, plus I have a wicked cool Wonder Woman t-shirt to wear, so I'm looking forward to it. Plus as a reward, my hubby is taking me to our local brew-pub that night, so I have something to work towards. LOL 

     

    I'm a little nervous, but more excited than anything. I've never run for three minutes at a time so the idea of possible banging out an entire mile just makes me grin ear to ear. And they'll have a photographer taking pics, hopefully they make me look really fast!

    Hello

    This is my first post right before my first run.  Just wanted to say hello and thank you.  Kind of feel silly going out there running with this extra weight on me ( I have like 70lbs to lose) but knowing there are others out there doing it that were successful has inspired me.

    Welcome to the club RN2013! And congrats on your decision to start c25k.  I am a believer it does work and with this support group you can do it.  We all have been there, many of us more than once.  Share your achievements, aches and pains with us and you will not be alone. 

     

    I remember the awkward feelings heading out to run (that is not really the right word for me and my 13-14 minute miles). Plus size running clothes didn't (and don't) fit.  My walk and runs are slower than slow. And I couldn't even make it to the next mailbox. Any of this sound familiar?  I had to convince myself that so long as I was moving faster than a couch, I had no reason to be embarrassed.  To date, I've only been passed by once couch, but it was in a truck. Honestly, I have been surprised at the great comments Nd encouragement I have gotten.  By skinny folks and heavy folks.  All were impressed I was actually doing something for myself. 

     

    The first two weeks are the hardest, as you struggle with pace, breathing, aches etc.  Stretch well, feel free to repeat weeks or dAys and let us know how it goes! 

     

    Looking forward to celebrating the small and big steps with you!

    PS. I just finished my first 7 mile run.  It took forever(1:45) but I battled some demons and some BIG hills.

    That Dam Race 5K 7/23/11 44:46 - a challenging route & a hot day- but I will do better next year!

    "Run for the Ta-Ta's 5K 10/29/11 39:54 in the snow!

    Woodchoppers 5K 5/26/12 36:08 My 5 year old was 5 minutes behind me. Way to go Liat!

    Hi,

    My name is Mathew. I am 28 years of age and I currently weight 254lbs. I started running two weeks ago. I have been struggling with weight loss for quite some time now. As of recient I started to run every other day going between 1 and 2 miles. My knees are sore but my calf muscles feel fantastic. I have really been struggling with getting a rutine for propper nutrition, but I am making small changes. I hope to see some significant change in the next few months. Yet, I am already starting to feel better, my back even hurts less.

    Congrats to everyone getting started!!!! The hardest step is that first one off the couch and out the door. But trust me, it's SOOOOOO worth it. I just finished my first 5k.  Did I run the whole thing?? Nope, I was only on W3D3, but I still did it. And I didn't finish last in my age group, well I finished next to last but next race, I'll be even faster.  My time was 48:59 and I wanted to be under 50:00 so I am so proud of myself. I will continue C25k, and I feel amazing. I didn't ever think I'd get to this point, but I did and I'm going to keep going. Even after falling and breaking my wrist on W1D3, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue but now, wild horses couldn't drag me away. We went to the US Coast Guard's open house afterwards and the best compliment I've ever gotten was "Did you run a marathon today?" I told him Nope but thanks for thinking I could do that!! So keep going, it gets easier and your confidence will continue to build.

    Yes, I am walking on air right now...I can't believe I did it...And my 16 y/o son??? His first 5k and the booger freaking finished first in his 15-18 group. Very proud of him and every one who came out to run!!!

    I tried to run last night....NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!! I made the first three minutes ok but when I started the next section, I dragged my toe a couple of times and I just felt off, so I turned off the C25k app and just walked back home. It's only been a day since I ran the 5K so I'm giving myself a bit of a break.

    Congrats on your great accomplishment!  starting is half the battle, i'm just starting out and looking forward to working up to my first 5k too!

    I'm going to run tonight, no more muscle spasms and my knees feel better, so I think I'll be fine. Plus I feel a bit cagey, so I can use the outlet.
