Re: Running Moms & Dads, Sat. 8/25
Evening peeps. Nice llama.

Spent the entire day spoiling the heck out of my two youngest kids. They are neat little people. They like monkeys, snakes, and buying **** at the zoo. LOL They are finally old enough to walk the entire time, so no stroller to lug around and boy are they TIRED!! DH just got home with the oldest kids and apparently my kiddos kicked butt on the fitness contests they did today. My 8yr old beat all the 10yr olds in running, pushups, pullups and situps. My 10yr old came in a close second to his younger brother. Guess who came in 3rd....my almost 7yr old dd! OUCH for all those other boys! Sounds like they had a good time and my DH is a very proud papa.

Alemma and Batmomm--Way to rock your training run! What miserable conditions for a race today. Kudos for even getting out there and going that far. Too bad you missed hot guys, Alemma! Love the pics--you two always look so fantastic when you are running!

Shell--enjoying vacation? I am enjoying a very nice red tonight. mmmmmmm.....wine!

RFF--hope you had a good rest day

Andi--LHR training blows when it is hot and humid! Hope your next run is much more fun!

Abb--nice job on your run!

Amber--wtg on your run today!

Heather--glad you didn't melt at football today! 90-14? WOW!

BAD MARIANNE, BAD!

Lightnin--wtg on your 15

CJ--nice running!

Bikegirl--wtg on your run today!

Lee--sounds like you had a fabulous day!

Suds--wtg on the run...Hope you had a nice day with dd!

Karla--sounds like you had a busy day as usual!

Ron--good luck with rearranging your schedule to fit in running!

Jeanne--"family get stuff done day" doesn't sound very fun.

Fit--I hope you are enjoying your rest day!!

willa--did you get your run in yet? Yes, Coleman Hydration Pack review, please.

Alemma- Awesome race report! You did really well. I'm sorry it was a tough run. I loved the pictures!

I'm so mad and need to vent. The PT and dr told me to run for 30 min today. So I put on my skirt got all pumped up...figuring that taking 3 weeks off for a mysterious injury should be more than adequate esp. seeing some of my team mates took only 2 weeks off for stress fractures. I start running....smiling....loving life and running.....then I feel it...my stupid big toe starts to talk to me. I ignore it for a minute since I'm LOVING running but then I stop and walk since I'm trying to be smart.....try running again. Get off the DM with my head down and tears in my eyes. My total run was 5 minutes.....5 freakin minutes after three weeks of no running. I'm so mad. I don't know what to do. My Advil had worn off but I wanted to run w/out it. UGGGGGGG!! I'm seeing a PT, a sports chiro, a podiatrist, and a sports doctor and I'm still not fixed and no one has a clue what is really wrong. I'm calling the sports dr. Monday.

Re: Running Moms & Dads, Sat. 8/25
Willa I want a report on it... I saw one that was more like a backpack type thing, rather than like a waist one... and it had lots of cool pockets for stuff, I thought it would be cool to run trails with... especailly if you're gonna be out there a long time. It was in the camping section, I wonder if it's the same thing... it was about the same price or very close to that. Oh you talked about getting replacememt bladders, I have a wast camelback, but I stopped using it, becase the mouth piece was dripping everywhere, and I got more water on me than in me. Maybe I could get a new bladder.

Hey jeans, glad to hear you had a good day.

I ended up not going to the beahc, but taking DS to eat this morning (his choice).. and he wrote his name! I was so proud of him... he's writing all of his letters... only in caps for now, but that's good for 4 yrs old... I'm a proud mama

my only comment on the drama, is leave it to the lama
I am moving to a drama free zone HMMM maybe I need a sign. (insert evil thinking smiley here)

I suck at smileys that aren't posted here how to do them.

Jeanne - I am so sorry, girl... that is totally awful. Did you ask your pt about hallux rigidus? Not sure if you saw my post about it the other day... I talked to my PT about you (sorry I forgot to mention before) and he agreed that your symptons sounded like it, but the same way as me, he couldn't shoot for more without seeing you. It's tough when there is nothing you can do to stop something like that. Not knowing where it's coming from makes it even harder. What is your shoe size? (running shoes)

2 things... first Jeanne, I'm so sorry about your run.. I hope you get answers soon, I have been there, getting off the TM in tears with an injury, and I totally sypmathize.

second... WHERE did I miss alemma's RR?... I have to go back and review...

Re: Running Moms & Dads, Sat. 8/25
Yeah, I asked the dr. about it- esp. since I have some arthritis (at the ripe age of 34). I'll ask the PT about it too and revisit it w/the dr. It's tender further up my foot in one specific place where the height of the foot peaks (hope this makes sense) so I think it might also be a stress fracture. Mentally I'm in the dumps...although I should be thankful for everything I have in life I'm having a self pity party tonight. I sad that I couldn't run ....or even cheer the girls on today (just couldn't do it).

So glad Julia is doing well. How are you???? How's the hip?

Re: Running Moms & Dads, Sat. 8/25
Ok, well, I had not run with a hydration pack of any sorts since Steamtown last year. I tried the Coleman because it was cheap and well made when compared to others in the same price range. I have a Camelback Flashflo so I knew what type of material to look for in the packs. The Coleman has both a chest strap and tummy strap, so it can be made not to bounce at all, if that was your desire. It has plenty of room for gear, It has a large main compartment , the bladder compartment, and two side zip pockets with mesh pockets on the outside. I had no problem fitting my entire keychain in one of the small zip pockets. I have a wallet attached to my keys in an attempt to not lose the keys easily. There was plenty more room in the pocket.

I had been warned of this but I was not ready for it. Your back sweats a ton. The back of my shorts were soaked. At first I thought the bladder had a leak, but no, it was me.

If I ever seriously take up trail running and ultras, this is a good pack for that. As Tri has said, the Appalachian trail is right here and now I think I have the right pack to take on that type of run. It also does look like Camelback bladders could be used if this bladder breaks, the bladder does seem cheap but I can pick those up at Dick's. I like the Camelbak mouthpiece better so I might grab one of those next time I go to Dick's.

I think it is a good alternative to the Camelback backpack if you are on a budget.

hmmm... I had thought about SF when you first had the problem, but I thought your doc had ruled it out... ****... It might sound crazy, but a SF is easier to fix. Let's see... I hope he has some answers for you.
Hip is ok, tks... I try not to get too excited. BDTD... had my seven minutes of fame on the TM too before going crazy in pain. So far, 1 mile painless. Tomorrow, I will go for 1.5 . I am very aprehensive...
