Hey guys, How many days should I take off running after a half marathon? I have no pain and the soreness was gone after 2 days. I have one friend that says you take 1 day off for every mile run in the race. I have another source that says take 5 days off. I want to RUN!!! So any input? It's been 3 days.
You can run when your legs/body will let you, whether the next day or a week later. The usual recommendation is no hard, fast, or long workouts for the same number of days as the length of the race, so 13 days for a half marathon. (Not "no running".) Still, this recommendation is moderated by how you feel. Some can return to harder workouts in a week. You are probably better off going easy for a couple weeks though.
Depends on your body and how you have trained.
I run 4 five milers Mon-Fri and 10-13 miles each Saturday. I am always back out on Monday.
Listen to your body and use you head. If you are sore rest. If not ease back in and get ready for the next race.
